Rumor: Disney Considering Another ‘Woke’ Live-Action Update of a Classic Animated Film
Disney’s Upcoming Remake Plans
Disney is reportedly eyeing another live-action remake, this time considering a fresh take on the classic animated film “Sleeping Beauty.” This comes as the studio continues to ride the wave of its live-action adaptations, which have produced several billion-dollar hits, such as Lilo & Stitch. Yet, not all remakes have fared as well; some, like the recent remake of Snow White, have met with considerable backlash and financial struggles. As Disney navigates these waters, the implications for its upcoming projects are causing waves of speculation among fans and industry insiders alike.

In recent years, Disney has experienced a fluctuating trend in its live-action remakes. Some films, such as The Lion King and Aladdin, have resonated well with audiences and yielded box office success.
Conversely, others have failed to capture the same magic, with Snow White reportedly losing around $115 million amid heavy criticism. This history raises questions about how a woke update of Sleeping Beauty will be received, especially considering Disney’s past endeavors.
The Context of ‘Woke’ Controversies
The term “woke” has often been associated with Disney’s recent casting and story decisions, eliciting strong reactions from fans. Following the casting of Rachel Zegler as Snow White, many viewers labeled Disney’s choices as overly politically correct, sparking debates about representation versus traditional storytelling. These “woke” updates have been met with significant scrutiny, resulting in mixed reactions. The tension surrounding these modifications demonstrates the challenges the studio faces when adapting beloved classics.

The conversation surrounding Disney’s live-action remakes primarily focuses on casting decisions and the implications of adapting to changing cultural contexts. Some fans embrace the idea of diverse representation, while others argue that such changes dilute the essence of classic stories. As Disney considers relocating the setting of Sleeping Beauty to Mexico, the decision is likely to reignite discussions on cultural authenticity and sensitivity within storytelling.
‘Sleeping Beauty’ Setting Changes
The proposed relocation of Sleeping Beauty to Mexico presents a unique opportunity for the studio to explore rich cultural narratives. This shift opens the door for new interpretations of timeless themes, such as love, sacrifice, and the hero’s journey. Critics, however, remain wary. Reshaping a character’s origins, much like was done with Snow White, poses the risk of alienating traditionalists who hold deep attachments to the original story.

Although historical accuracy is essential, contemporary interpretations allow for a dialogue between the past and present. By adapting Sleeping Beauty with a modern lens, Disney could engage viewers in a broader conversation about identity and culture, potentially attracting a more diverse audience. Balancing these elements will be crucial for the film’s success if the project advances.
The Uncertain Future of Disney Remakes
As Disney examines the reception of its past projects, the future of its live-action remakes appears uncertain. Following the dismal performance of Snow White, there have been discussions about pausing future adaptations. Whether the company will take these lessons to heart remains to be seen, especially considering its ambitious plans for Sleeping Beauty.

Speculation about official announcements surrounding this woke update has led to heightened expectations among audiences. Fans are eager to see how Disney navigates the complex landscape of modern storytelling, particularly as it maintains engagement with a diverse fan base. The reactions from audiences could significantly influence how the studio approaches future projects, including its methodology for handling beloved animated classics.
While the idea of a woke remake of Sleeping Beauty poses challenges, it also offers endless possibilities for storytelling. As Disney navigates its nostalgic catalog, how it addresses themes of representation and cultural significance will likely define the success of this venture—and possibly many more to come.

Lies!
Guess they will never learn…
Walt would never be doing these, he didn’t believe in redoing things. Disney needs to stop. Do new ones as there are plenty of stories out there to make a movie from. Sleeping Beauty is a timeless classic with a specific setting and cast of characters in the story. Just stop. Disney has lost over $1 Billion on the remakes that have bombed. They don’t seem to grasp that their core followers do not want them. They are pushing them away.
My goodness people, get your panties out of a bunch! So far it’s a rumor. And remember, Disney adapted their version of Sleeping Beauty from various books! So it can be adapted over and over if they so choose. And if you don’t like the new version, before you’ve even seen it or read the synopsis, then don’t go to watch it. There, problem solved, easy as pie!
I most likely will not watch it.And I will not buy it for my grandkids to watch any woke or trans or socialist communist, I will not put out there for them if they grow up.And want to watch it on their own? They can, but the thirteenth of november tonight is my last day for disney plus and it’s because the way disney has been going not because I am in the up and air about jimmy kimmel.I could care less about fag.Boy
How DARE they make a woke version of Sleeping Beauty?
They already cleansed the story once.
The ORIGINAL story didn’t have “Aurora” wakened by the Prince’s kiss. She was awakened after the Prince’s affections for her caused her to bear twins, and when their teeth started coming in, the pain from their suckling woke her. Yep. Not the labor pains, the chewing by the little brats.
Yeah! go back to the REAL story. Not the WOKE stuff in the cartoons!. And Cinderella’s sisters need to have their eyes pecked out by birds, and the Wicked Queen of Snow White needs to dance in red hot iron shoes until the falls dead.
Yes I’m being sarcastic. But the idiots who whine about “WOKE” need to pull their heads out of… their pillows and WAKE UP TO THE REAL WORLD!!
Doesn’t Disney ever learn? We go to Disney to escape woke. Disney will just have to drive wokely into bankruptcy.
Stop it, woke is just the new monster that Maga has created and it’s stupid. These stories are fictional they’re not true historical pieces of work, so they can be adapted in different ways, princesses don’t always have to be white, it’s so Lame the way you guys cry whenever Disney reminds you that different races and cultures exist, go touch some grass. I rather support woke which simply means the opposite of being sleep/sheep..it’s about being aware and having your own mind. How about you guys stop supporting men who hurt and sexualize children…funny Maga is ok with that.
