EPCOT is known for big concepts, bold visuals, and ambitious ideas. But every once in a while, something smaller slips through the cracks—and completely wins people over.
That’s exactly what happened with Glimmering Greenhouses.
Disney has confirmed that the fan-favorite ride experience is leaving EPCOT soon, ending alongside the close of the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays on December 30. While Living with the Land itself will remain open, the version that has been drawing guests will disappear until next year.

For many, that feels like losing EPCOT’s emotional reset button.
Why Guests Fell So Hard for This Attraction
There’s no thrill element to Glimmering Greenhouses. No screens. No characters. No sudden surprises.
And that’s the point.
The attraction carved out a rare space inside EPCOT—a slow, peaceful ride that asked nothing of guests except to sit back and take it in. Soft lighting filled the greenhouses. The pace never rushed. The experience felt intentionally calm.
During one of the busiest times of year, that calm became priceless.
Wait times climbed rapidly. Triple-digit waits weren’t rare. Guests willingly stood in line for over an hour just to experience something that felt grounding rather than overwhelming.
That kind of response doesn’t happen often.

Losing Calm in a Crowded Park
EPCOT doesn’t lack attractions, but it does lack low-pressure experiences that absorb crowds without creating stress. Glimmering Greenhouses quietly filled that role.
When hundreds of guests are queued inside a slow-moving boat ride, they aren’t crowding pathways or overwhelming nearby attractions. The experience acted as a pressure valve for the entire park.
Once it ends, that pressure shifts elsewhere.
The result? Heavier congestion around World Showcase. Longer waits at neighboring rides. Less breathing room during already-busy days.
It’s a reminder that even subtle changes can have major consequences.
A Long Wait for a Short Window
With December 30 approaching quickly, guests visiting EPCOT right now are racing against time.
Many are choosing to wait longer than usual, adjusting plans just to fit in one last ride. Others are discovering the experience too late, realizing they missed something that became iconic almost overnight.
Once the lights turn off, Glimmering Greenhouses won’t return for nearly a year. That’s a long absence for an experience that became such a strong emotional anchor for guests.
Not Gone Forever—But Gone When It Matters Most
The attraction will be back next season. Disney hasn’t suggested otherwise.
Still, the gap feels significant. EPCOT will move forward without one of its most peaceful offerings, and guests will feel that absence immediately.
Because while EPCOT excels at innovation and spectacle, sometimes the experiences people miss the most are the ones that asked them to slow down.
And that’s what makes this departure feel bigger than it looks on paper.
