Disney Confirms Major Shake-Up to Lightsaber Building Experience This October
If you’ve ever walked through Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World, you know there’s one hidden gem that fans rave about—Savi’s Workshop. Tucked away from the bustling crowds, it’s the place where aspiring Jedi (and Sith) can build their own lightsaber in an experience that feels straight out of the films. Now, Disney has revealed that a big change is on the way this October, and longtime fans are buzzing.
A Workshop Unlike Any Other
Savi’s Workshop has stood out since day one because it’s more than just buying merchandise—it’s a story-driven event. Guided by mysterious “Gatherers,” guests are taken into a dimly lit workshop, where the lore of the Force mixes with theatrical storytelling. From there, builders get to select their parts and craft a custom lightsaber using one of four themes: Peace and Justice, Power and Control, Elemental Nature, or Protection and Defense.
The $250 price tag hasn’t stopped crowds from lining up, because what you walk away with is far more than a souvenir—it’s a memory rooted in Star Wars tradition.
The Return of “Reclaimed and Reforged”
Earlier this year, Disney introduced a new variation called Reclaimed and Reforged. The storyline revolves around assembling lightsabers from fragments of the past—battle-scarred emitters, weathered sleeves, and switches that look like they’ve seen combat. Instead of building something shiny and new, you’re piecing together relics from across the galaxy.
Disney has now confirmed that this fan-favorite theme will officially return on October 12, 2025. The twist? It will only be available for a limited time.
No Extra Cost, But Limited Supply
Unlike some upgrades in the parks, the “Reclaimed and Reforged” path won’t cost extra. Guests will still pay the standard $250 for their build, but the reclaimed parts will only be available “while supplies last.” That scarcity is part of what makes this update so exciting—once the pieces are gone, they may not return.
Planning Your Experience
Fans interested in this special storyline should plan ahead. Reservations for Savi’s Workshop fill up quickly and can be booked through the My Disney Experience app. You’ll also need a park ticket and a Disney’s Hollywood Studios reservation to access Galaxy’s Edge.
With this change, Savi’s Workshop is proving it’s not stuck in the past. Disney is showing a commitment to keeping Galaxy’s Edge fresh, offering something new even for repeat visitors. For fans, October is shaping up to be one of the best times to ignite a brand-new kind of lightsaber.
