Disney World guests have become accustomed to seeing construction walls, attraction closures, and unexpected announcements throughout Magic Kingdom.
Over the past several years, Disney has introduced major projects designed to transform portions of its flagship Florida theme park.
However, not every change involves demolishing an attraction or building something completely new.
Sometimes, Disney makes adjustments to experiences that have remained familiar to generations of visitors.
That’s exactly what’s happening at one historic Magic Kingdom location, where several confirmed changes will take effect before October ends.

And while the announcement won’t dramatically transform the park, guests who regularly visit this particular spot may want to pay attention.
A Familiar Magic Kingdom Location Is Getting Something New
For more than 54 years, Liberty Square has helped give Magic Kingdom its distinctive atmosphere.
The land opened alongside the park in October 1971 and continues celebrating colonial American history through its architecture, entertainment, and attractions.
While other areas of Magic Kingdom have experienced extensive redevelopment, Liberty Square has maintained much of its original appearance.
Now, Disney is preparing to introduce changes at Columbia Harbour House, one of the land’s popular dining locations.
The quick-service restaurant has become a familiar stop for guests looking for seafood instead of traditional theme park meals.
Its nautical decorations and New England-inspired setting make it a natural fit for Liberty Square.
However, guests visiting later this month will notice several differences.
Disney has confirmed that four new or updated menu items will debut October 28, 2026.
And the changes go beyond simply introducing another dessert or seasonal snack.
Disney Is Changing a Familiar Menu Favorite
One of the more noticeable updates involves Columbia Harbour House’s shrimp offering.
Currently, guests can order a Beer-Battered Shrimp Platter.
However, Disney is replacing that preparation with a Hand-Breaded Shrimp Platter as part of the October 28 refresh.
Although shrimp will remain available, the different coating could give the dish a new texture and overall experience.
For longtime visitors who have ordered the existing version, the change will be worth watching.
Meanwhile, Disney is also including the Beer-Battered Fish Platter among its four announced offerings.
That dish already appears on the restaurant’s menu, making it more of an updated selection than an entirely new addition.
Both options maintain the seafood-focused identity that has helped Columbia Harbour House stand apart from other Magic Kingdom restaurants.
However, Disney isn’t limiting the refresh to traditional seafood.

A Surprising New Sandwich Is Coming
Guests who prefer plant-based meals will soon have another option at Columbia Harbour House.
Disney is introducing a Plant-Based Crab Cake Sandwich featuring a meat-free crab cake on a brioche bun.
The sandwich comes with tomato, lettuce, and tartar sauce, along with french fries.
While Columbia Harbour House is known primarily for seafood, the new sandwich provides an alternative for visitors who don’t eat fish or shrimp.
It also gives families more flexibility when choosing where to eat.
Finding a restaurant that satisfies everyone’s preferences can be difficult, particularly during busy days at Magic Kingdom.
Adding another plant-based dish could make Columbia Harbour House a more appealing option for groups with different dietary needs.
Of course, guests with allergies should still review the restaurant’s ingredient information before ordering.
And Disney has one more addition planned.
Another New Offering Brings a Sweet Surprise
The fourth announced menu item is Boston Cream Pie.
Disney’s version features two layers of yellow cake separated by Boston cream filling.
Chocolate ganache covers the top, completing the classic dessert.
The addition feels appropriate for Columbia Harbour House, considering the restaurant’s New England-inspired theme.
It also gives visitors something different to enjoy after their seafood meal.
Unlike the fish and shrimp platters, Boston Cream Pie represents a new dessert addition to the restaurant’s lineup.
Guests interested in trying it won’t have to wait much longer, either.
All four announced changes are scheduled to take effect Wednesday, October 28.
What Does This Mean for Magic Kingdom Guests?
Whenever Disney updates a longtime restaurant, visitors naturally wonder whether other menu items could disappear.
However, the announcement doesn’t confirm a complete menu replacement or identify additional dishes being permanently removed.
Instead, the changes focus on introducing new selections and refreshing existing offerings.
Columbia Harbour House will continue operating as a quick-service dining location in Liberty Square.
The announcement also comes during a period of significant change elsewhere in Magic Kingdom.
Frontierland is being transformed as Disney develops Piston Peak National Park, while other expansion projects will reshape portions of the park in the coming years.
For longtime visitors, those developments make familiar locations like Columbia Harbour House especially meaningful.
Although the restaurant’s menu will look a little different beginning October 28, its recognizable setting and seafood-focused identity aren’t going anywhere based on the current announcement.
Guests planning a Magic Kingdom visit after that date can look forward to trying the updated seafood platters, plant-based sandwich, and Boston Cream Pie.
After more than five decades of Liberty Square history, Disney is proving that even its familiar locations can receive something new without losing the character that made them popular in the first place.
