Disney Character Collapses in Front of Theme Park Guests

In a recent video posted on social media, a Disney character performer crashes to the ground during a crowded parade. Disney cast members rush to assist the character as hundreds of guests look on in horror.

Entertainment cast members are a big part of the magic of the Disney parks. “Face” character performers portray speaking human characters like Peter Pan, the Fairy Godmother, or your favorite Disney Princess. “Fur” character performers wear iconic mascot suits (think Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck) and don’t speak to Disney Park guests.

Guests can spot Disney characters at meet-and-greets, parades, shows, and other entertainment offerings throughout the theme parks. Every Disney park offers an entertainment schedule on its app or website, allowing guests to plan their day around their favorite performances.

Spectators at a recent performance of the Mickey’s Storybook Express parade at Shanghai Disney Resort witnessed an unfortunate character accident. Goofy collapsed onto the concrete road as dancers made their way through Shanghai Disneyland Park.

The Walt Disney Company teaches “face” and “fur” character performers subtle signals that alert attendants or management to an emergency. Without guests ever realizing it, entertainment cast members can get help with a medical issue or costume malfunction.

Unfortunately, Goofy didn’t have time to signal an emergency before he fell. TikTok user @themepark101yt shared a video of the incident:

It appears that Goofy’s oversized shoe got caught on the leg of the male dancer in the red outfit. He fell face forward onto the ground, and four dancers immediately surrounded him to prevent any “broken magic” for little ones.

Goofy quickly stood up with assistance from fellow entertainment cast members. The video ended with a non-costumed cast member approaching to assess the situation and ensure that Goofy was healthy enough to continue the parade route. Other characters, including Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck, continued performing to distract guests from the accident.

“Hopefully Goofy recovers well after that injury,” @goofyfan4ever34 commented. “That was quite a fall.”

“Poor Goofy,” @snoopyfangrl1 replied. “I hope he’s ok.”

It’s unclear if the character performer was injured in the recent incident at Shanghai Disney Resort.
