For years, Guests celebrating Christmas at Walt Disney World Resort had the chance to purchase tickets to the popular event Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. The Very Merry Christmas Party takes place at Magic Kingdom Park and features a special parade, fireworks, character meet and greets, and more. When the Parks reopened after COVID, Disney tried to introduce Mickey’s Very Merriest After Hours event, but the Party was not as popular as Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, so Disney is bringing it back this year.

Over on the West Coast, Guests visiting Disneyland Resort during the holidays did not have a Christmas party option. That is, until last year.
Last year, Disney introduced Disney’s Merriest Nites — a hard-ticketed event that included specialty food, rare character sightings — like the Duke of Weselton and Santa Stitch –, and a show down Main Street, U.S.A., featuring popular Muppets characters like Miss Piggy, Kermit, and Gonzo, singing holiday classics. Merriest Nites appeared to be a very popular event, with the event selling out, but it looks like it may not have been as well-received as initially thought.

Sadly, we are learning that Merriest Nites will not return this year. The news was confirmed on Twitter by theme park insider Scott Gustin:
NEW: Disney Merriest Nites will not return to Disneyland Resort this year. Last year, the after-hours party was held at Disneyland on 5 select nights in Nov. and Dec.

Disney has not said if a different holiday party will come to The Happiest Place on Earth in the future.
Even though Merriest Nites isn’t happening this year, there are still a lot of fun holiday-themed events that Guests can see, including “it’s a small world” Holiday, Believe! In Holiday Magic fireworks, the Christmas Fantasy Parade at Disneyland Park, Viva Navidad at Disney California Adventure Park, and more!
