Disney Bus Crash Near Disney Springs Leaves Guests Shaken

For a brief moment on March 20, a normal Disney World bus ride turned into something far more intense than anyone expected.

Guests traveling from Disney Springs to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge were involved in a crash after another driver attempted to beat a traffic signal. The incident occurred shortly after 7:00 p.m., just as evening transportation demand was picking up.

And while no serious injuries were reported, the situation itself was enough to leave passengers rattled.

When Timing Goes Wrong

Disney buses operate with a clear advantage on many of the roads around Disney Springs, especially in designated lanes that give them priority at certain intersections. It’s part of what keeps transportation moving efficiently, even during peak hours.

But that system only works when everyone follows it.

In this case, another driver tried to make a left-hand turn against the light, not realizing that the bus lane was active. That split-second decision put the vehicle directly in the path of the oncoming bus.

The driver of the bus attempted to react—slowing down and adjusting course—but the two vehicles still collided.

Why This Could Have Been Worse

When you hear about a bus crash, your mind immediately jumps to worst-case scenarios. But several factors helped keep this situation from escalating.

The bus wasn’t crowded, meaning every passenger had a seat. That alone can make a significant difference in how injuries play out during sudden stops or impacts.

The bus driver’s reaction likely reduced the severity of the crash.

And perhaps most importantly, emergency response was fast.

Within minutes, Disney’s medical team was on-site, checking on guests and making sure everyone was okay. Reports indicate that no serious injuries occurred, which is a major relief given the circumstances.

Back on Track in Under an Hour

One of the more impressive parts of this situation is how quickly things returned to normal.

Guests were moved onto another bus within about 30 minutes and continued their trip to Wilderness Lodge. While the experience itself may have been unsettling, it didn’t completely derail the rest of their evening.

That kind of recovery is something Disney prioritizes—minimizing disruption, even when the unexpected happens.

The Bigger Picture

Moments like this don’t happen often, but they do serve as a reminder that Disney transportation, as smooth as it feels, still depends on real-world conditions.

Roadways around Disney Springs can be especially busy, and drivers who aren’t familiar with the layout may not fully understand how bus lanes operate.

In this case, it only took one misjudgment to create a situation that impacted dozens of guests.

Thankfully, everything turned out okay.

But it’s a good reminder—for drivers and passengers alike—that even at Walt Disney World, awareness matters.
