Is This the Most Exciting Disney Coaster Ever? Meet Ironcycle Test Run

The Walt Disney Company has announced thrilling updates for its newest venture, the Disney Adventure, which will set sail in late 2025. Among the highlights is a record-breaking roller coaster based on the iconic Marvel character Iron Man, cementing this cruise as a must-experience for Disney and Marvel fans alike.

In a recent post on the Disney Parks Blog, Disney detailed six key features that guests will be able to enjoy aboard the Disney Adventure. This cruise ship is set to follow in the footsteps of two other vessels, the Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny, which will launch in December 2024 and November 2025, respectively.

The Disney Adventure, however, will embark on its maiden voyage out of Singapore on December 15, 2025, marking a significant expansion of Disney Cruise Line’s offerings in Southeast Asia.

One of the major attractions on this ship is the Marvel Landing, located on the upper deck, where guests can immerse themselves in superhero-themed fun. The Marvel Landing will feature three new rides, starting with Pym Quantum Racers.

This attraction allows riders to pilot Pym Tech-enhanced mini-cars around a track filled with oversized and undersized obstacles. According to Disney, guests will be able to “experience hero-sized fun” as they zip through a track designed to challenge both their driving and shrinking skills.

Another exhilarating ride is Groot Galaxy Spin, where guests can enjoy “high-soaring feats and bass-boosted beats.” This marks the third Guardians of the Galaxy-themed attraction under Disney’s brand, joining Guardians of the Galaxy—Mission: BREAKOUT! at Disneyland Resort and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT in Walt Disney World.

The combination of Marvel characters and thrilling experiences is sure to delight guests, as these rides offer a chance to dive deeper into the universe of their favorite superheroes.

However, the true centerpiece of the Marvel Landing is the Ironcycle Test Run, a groundbreaking roller coaster that will stretch 820 feet in length, making it the longest at sea. This ride marks Disney Cruise Line’s first foray into roller coasters, with guests climbing aboard Tony Stark’s latest Ironcycle prototype.

The attraction promises a heart-pounding, high-speed journey suspended 30 feet above the upper deck. After a crash course driving lesson from F.R.I.D.A.Y., riders will “push the new technology to its limits” in what’s being hailed as a gravity-defying adventure. The Ironcycle Test Run draws inspiration from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and seemingly the popular Tron Lightcycle / Run attractions at Magic Kingdom and Shanghai Disney Resort.

In addition to the rides, the Marvel Landing will feature a Tony Stark-inspired pool deck and bar, allowing guests to relax in a luxurious setting designed with Stark’s signature sleek style. This area serves as an extension of Avengers Campus, which can already be enjoyed at Disneyland Resort and Disneyland Paris, offering guests yet another way to engage with their favorite heroes while at sea.

Of course, Iron Man remains one of the most beloved characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, thanks to Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal of Tony Stark from Iron Man (2008) to Avengers: Endgame (2019). Disney’s decision to include a ride dedicated to the character underscores Stark’s enduring popularity. Fans were recently excited by the news that Downey Jr. will return to the MCU in 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday, where he is slated to portray Victor Von Doom.

Beyond the Marvel-themed offerings, the Disney Adventure will also feature a spectacular lineup of entertainment on the Disney Imagination Garden Stage. Guests can catch Avengers Assemble!, a show that will bring epic superhero battles to life on massive LED screens spanning three decks. Other performances like Captain Jack & the Siren Queen and Mickey’s Color Spin Dance Party ensure that guests of all ages will be entertained from dawn till dusk.

Sarah Fox, Vice President and Regional General Manager for Southeast Asia at Disney Cruise Line, spoke with excitement about the new ship’s diverse offerings. “Sailing on primarily three- and four-night voyages designed with only dedicated days at sea, the ship will include something for everyone. From fun and interactive spaces for kids, to relaxing venues for adults to unwind, to entertaining and engaging places for families to enjoy together, guests will find endless adventures from bow to stern,” Fox stated.

The ship itself has an interesting origin story, having originally been known as the Global Dream. The Walt Disney Company purchased the Global-class vessel in November 2022 and transformed it into what will soon be known as the Disney Adventure.

For those eager to experience this new cruise, bookings will open on December 10, 2024, and further details on sailing dates will be announced on November 14, 2024.

With its mix of record-breaking attractions and iconic Marvel heroes, the Disney Adventure is set to make waves in more ways than one. Whether you’re a Marvel fan itching to test out the Ironcycle Test Run or someone looking to unwind on Tony Stark’s lavish pool deck, this cruise promises a once-in-a-lifetime journey.
