Disney World Theme Park Announces Closure of ‘Finding Nemo’ Attraction
Crush’s Coaster has officially closed its gates, sending the Finding Nemo (2003)-themed attraction into an extended refurbishment period that will keep it out of commission for nearly a year.
The Countdown to Closure
Plans for this shutdown were revealed earlier in the summer, when Disneyland Paris Resort confirmed that Crush’s Coaster would close for refurbishment beginning September 7, 2026. The ride, themed around the memorable sea turtle character from Finding Nemo, has been part of Walt Disney Studios Park — now rebranded as Disney Adventure World — since it first opened in 2007. It holds a distinct place among Disney attractions worldwide, as it has never been replicated at any other Disney park.
Guests got their last opportunity to experience Crush’s Coaster on Sunday, September 6, and Disneyland Paris Resort moved quickly to seal off the attraction once that day ended.
A Look at the Closed Attraction
Photos shared Monday by X (formerly known as Twitter) user @PixiedustDLP show the ride now hidden behind blue wooden construction walls, some of which feature submarine-style windows decorated with Finding Nemo character artwork. The user posted:

Those barriers extend beyond just the ride itself, also partially closing off a nearby character meet-and-greet location within Worlds of Pixar. A bilingual sign posted on the walls reads:
“This area is being refurbished for your future enjoyment.”
A Park in the Midst of Reinvention
This closure arrives as Disney Adventure World continues its broader transformation, following its March 2026 rebrand from Walt Disney Studios Park. What was once a park centered on movie-making has since become an immersive experience built around popular franchises, including Marvel’s Avengers Campus and the recently added World of Frozen. Disney has additional plans in motion for the park, including a Lion King (1994)-inspired land and log flume ride, along with rumors pointing toward a future Avatar (2009)-themed expansion.
Behind the Refurbishment
Disney has not detailed exactly what upgrades are planned for Crush’s Coaster, though the ride has faced ongoing technical issues since mid-2025, when guests began reporting repeated malfunctions involving an audio-animatronic seagull positioned in the queue.
While Disney has stayed quiet on specifics, this refurbishment is expected to be the most extensive technical overhaul the attraction has undergone to date. Crush’s Coaster will remain closed through summer 2027, and Disneyland Paris Resort has not provided an exact reopening date.
