Disney World Makes Final Update To Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
A construction project that appeared without warning on the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run exterior at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has wrapped up just as quietly. It may be the last bit of maintenance Batuu sees before a wave of much larger changes arrives.
Three Weeks of Construction, No Explanation

Scaffolding and scrim materialized on the back of the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run structure in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on March 16. The ride stayed open the entire time, and Walt Disney World Resort never said a word about what was being done.
By April 8, the equipment was gone. WDWNT confirmed the removal on Wednesday, noting that nothing about the attraction’s exterior appeared any different than before the project began.
Crews may have needed to access hard-to-reach areas of the structure for routine maintenance, leaving no guest-facing changes. However, Walt Disney World Resort has neither confirmed this nor commented on the project.
What’s Actually Coming to Batuu
The silent scaffolding job is small compared to what’s on the horizon for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Starting May 22, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run will debut a brand-new mission storyline inspired by The Mandalorian & Grogu (2026), timed to the film’s theatrical release that same day.

Beyond that, the entire land is preparing for a timeline split. Half of Batuu will stay set in the sequel era, while the other half shifts back to the original trilogy — bringing Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Darth Vader into the Star Wars land for the first time.
Disneyland Park makes that transition on April 29. Walt Disney World Resort has yet to announce an exact date for the timeline shift at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
