Universal’s Volcano Bay Water Theme Park, celebrated for its immersive tropical ambiance and groundbreaking attractions, is a crown jewel of the region. Anchored by the iconic Krakatau—a 200-foot volcano that dazzles with cascading waterfalls during the day and fiery lava effects at night—the park offers an unparalleled blend of thrills and relaxation.

On Thursday, December 12, 2024, however, this tropical haven will remain closed. Universal Orlando Resort broke the news on X (formerly Twitter), citing adverse weather conditions:

Weather Update

Universal Volcano Bay will be closed on Thursday, December 12, due to inclement weather. For park updates, please call 407-817-8317 or stay tuned to Universal Orlando’s social channels.

This marks the latest in a series of closures for Volcano Bay. Earlier in December, the park experienced a six-day shutdown due to a cold front sweeping through the area. The current closure aligns with the temporary shuttering of Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park as Central Florida faces unusually chilly conditions.

According to Click Orlando: “Behind the front, a cold airmass will settle in early Thursday morning, bringing temperatures down into the low to mid-40s across most of the area. Some of the colder spots will be north and west of I-4.”

The report continued: “Although winds will die down overnight, there will be enough of a breeze to bring wind chill values into the 30s across most of the area.”

Fortunately, both Volcano Bay and Blizzard Beach are slated to reopen on Friday, December 13. Guests can enjoy operating hours between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., with early park admission at Volcano Bay beginning at 9:30 a.m.

When open, Volcano Bay transforms the water park experience. Guests can dive into thrilling attractions like the Ko’okiri Body Plunge, unwind on serene lazy rivers, and take advantage of TapuTapu wearable technology to bypass long lines. With its Polynesian-inspired cuisine and pristine beaches, it’s a destination that brings magic to every visitor.

At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible.
