Cara Dune’s Post-‘Mandalorian’ ‘Star Wars’ Appearances Explained
It’s now been well over four years since fans last saw Cara Dune in The Mandalorian (2019), with the Season 2 finale “Chapter 16: The Rescue” marking her final on-screen appearance. Introduced as a tough, no-nonsense ex-rebel shock trooper with a troubled past, she quickly became a recurring part of the series and a fan-favorite character.
But after Gina Carano was fired from the show by Lucasfilm in 2021 following controversial social media activity, Cara Dune disappeared without a trace and without any real explanation—not just from live-action but from all corners of Star Wars storytelling.
Dune hasn’t appeared in any of Lucasfilm’s growing library of animated series, nor has she been acknowledged in any new novels, comics, or merchandising, or even in Disney Parks. And yet, Cara Dune does exist in a few unexpected places.
“Disney Magic Kingdoms” (2020)
In 2020, before the fallout between Gina Carano and Lucasfilm, Cara Dune was added to the city-builder app game “Disney Magic Kingdoms” during a Mandalorian-themed event. She appears alongside the likes of Kuiil, Greef Karga, Grogu, and Mando himself.
“LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga” (2022)
In 2022, Cara Dune was added to the popular game “LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga” as a playable character. Interestingly, this was the year after Carano had been fired, but we won’t read into it too much as the DLC had likely just been in development for some time.

The Mandalorian Junior Content and Graphic Novels
Cara Dune has also appeared in The Mandalorian graphic novels and some junior novels. Just like the LEGO-themed character, this version doesn’t bear any resemblance to Gina Carano. Still, it’s something extra if you want your Dune fix outside the flagship series.
Here’s hoping Cara Dune will show up in the faraway galaxy again in the future, regardless of the format. Preferably live action, of course, but unless Carano and Disney can bury the hatchet, we know that would involve a recasting, and the reason fans fell in love with the character in the first place is because of the actress that brought her to life.
