Paddington Bear, one of Britain’s most beloved characters, is about to embark on a new and exciting adventure—this time, on the stage.
Paddington: The Musical will make its world premiere at London’s Savoy Theater, who made the recent announcement, on November 1. Directed by Luke Sheppard, this stage production brings the marmalade-loving bear to life in a way fans have never seen before.
With a score by Tom Fletcher of the boyband McFly, who also has a successful career as a children’s author, and a book by Jessica Swale, the acclaimed filmmaker and playwright known for Summerland and Horrible Histories: The Movie, the production promises to deliver an unforgettable experience. The show will be jam-packed with catchy songs, stunning choreography by Ellen Kane, and, of course, plenty of marmalade sandwiches.
Paddington The Musical marks the first time the character will appear on stage. Produced by Sonia Friedman Productions, with support from StudioCanal and Universal Music UK, the stage play promises to be a delightful spectacle. As the official description of the show puts it, “A rather wonderful adventure is about to begin,” and fans can expect a “major new production” that brings one of Britain’s favorite characters to the West End.
The Paddington musical isn’t the only exciting project for fans of the famous bear, though.
Rumors continue to swirl around Universal Studios Great Britain, set to open in 2031, as the resort is expected to feature a Paddington themed land, alongside other major themed lands based on James Bond, Lord of the Rings, Back to the Future, Minions, and Jurassic World. However, no official details about the lands have been released yet.
