With Bluey already a household name, her arrival at Disney destinations is set to bring new experiences and memories for families everywhere.

Bluey’s Global Success and Disney’s Role

Bluey has quickly become a cultural phenomenon, captivating audiences worldwide with its heartwarming and relatable stories. Originally an Australian animated series, Bluey follows the imaginative adventures of a young blue heeler pup and her family, appealing to children and adults alike.

Since Disney acquired the international distribution rights, the series has become a global success through Disney+ and Disney Junior, reaching millions of viewers around the world. This partnership has played a major role in solidifying Bluey as a beloved character across the globe.

The Road to Disney Parks and Cruises

The excitement surrounding Bluey’s theme park debut has been building for some time. Fans have been eagerly speculating about when they would get the chance to see Bluey in person.

Earlier this year, Bluey and Bingo even made surprise appearances at D23, igniting further speculation about their eventual arrival.

Now, after months of anticipation, Disney has confirmed that Bluey will join the fun at Disney’s iconic parks starting in 2025. The beloved pups will also be featured in Disney Cruise Line voyages departing from Australia and New Zealand, where families can enjoy meet-and-greets, games, and a lively dance party.

A Bluey Movie Coming in 2027

The excitement surrounding Bluey’s Disney debut doesn’t stop at the theme parks and cruise ships. Earlier this week, Disney, in partnership with BBC Studios and Ludo Studio, announced that a Bluey movie is set for release in 2027.

With Disney handling distribution, this highly anticipated film will be written and directed by Bluey creator Joe Brumm. Fans of all ages can look forward to seeing Bluey and her family on the big screen, marking another milestone in the franchise’s recent growth.

A Rare Move for Disney

Disney’s decision to bring Bluey, a third-party character, into its theme parks and cruises is a notable one. Disney has traditionally focused on its own intellectual properties, making the inclusion of Bluey a rare occurrence.

While Disney has occasionally embraced outside franchises, such as Star Wars (which it didn’t own when it first debuted Star Tours) and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, featuring an outside character like Bluey is a significant shift. This move speaks to Bluey’s widespread appeal and the growing demand for immersive experiences with the beloved characters.

Josh D’Amaro, Chairperson of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, expressed excitement about Bluey’s arrival. “Bluey has become a household name for families around the world, and we are thrilled to bring her story to life in new ways,” he said. “We can’t wait to watch our youngest guests and their families make memories with Bluey in our parks and on our cruises.”

Nicki Sheard, CEO of BBC Studios brands and licensing, added, “The Heeler family’s debut at Disney Theme Parks and Cruises really is the icing on the cake for what has been an exceptional year for Bluey. We are committed to creating the very best-in-class experiences for our fans and can’t wait to open the doors to families next year.”

Bluey’s Impact Beyond Disney Parks

Before her Disney debut, Bluey fans have had the chance to meet the Heeler family at other locations. At Alton Towers, the British theme park’s CBeebies Land offers a dedicated Bluey experience, while Brisbane’s Bluey’s World provides an immersive play area where visitors can experience “the Bluey way” of fun. Now, Disney’s new addition to the Bluey universe promises even more excitement and engagement for fans of all ages.
