Blast Your Way to Galactic Hero Status with These 10 Space Ranger Tips!

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is a guest favorite, and for good reason. Like its counterpart, Toy Story Mania in Hollywood Studios, both rides tap into everyone’s competitive spirit, making them a must-do for families and friends looking for fun and friendly competition.

However, it can also be a bit frustrating. You keep shooting, but your score doesn’t seem to improve, no matter how hard you try. The secrets to achieving Galactic Hero status aren’t widely known, but don’t worry! We’re here to share them with you.

5. Hold the Trigger Down

This is one of the easiest tricks to boost your score. After repeatedly firing the blaster, it’s easy to get fatigued and feel exhausted by the end of the game.

Here’s the secret to avoiding that: you don’t need to release the trigger after every shot! That’s right, just hold the trigger down, and it will continue firing automatically.

This saves your finger from getting sore and allows you to take more shots, even for younger players who might struggle to aim at the targets. In fact, by holding the trigger down continuously, you can rack up over 1,000 points even without hitting a single target!

4. Keep Track Of Your Laser

If you think you’re hitting a target but not registering any points, chances are you’re aiming at someone else’s laser. To avoid this, make sure you know which laser is yours.

Just before entering the first room with available targets, you’ll have a chance to fire a few test shots. Not all blasters are perfectly aligned; some may shoot slightly to the right, while others veer to the left.

If you’re lucky, you might get one that shoots straight. It’s important to figure out which laser is yours, as many are firing around you during the game.

3. You Control the Joystick

Many guests don’t realize they can spin their vehicle using the joystick. They’re so focused on hitting targets that they completely forget about it.

When you’re riding with someone, it’s important for one person to take control…And that person should be you! You’re now a Pro!

If you’re constantly battling for power, neither of you can rack up the points needed to max out your score. To avoid this, offer your ride companion a Mickey pretzel if they promise not to touch the joystick. That way, at least one of you will leave the ride a winner!

2. Know the High Point Targets

Knowing which targets have the highest value is key to reaching points; lucky for you, we’re about to reveal them!

There are three specific targets where hitting the bull’s-eye will add a whopping 100,000 points every time! Ready to find out which ones?

First Room:

  • The robot’s left hand: This should be your first target. It’s a moving target, making it tricky to hit, but the reward is worth the effort.

  • The target on the claw above you: Since you can’t aim straight up, wait until you’re past this target to try hitting it.

Second Room:

  • The highest target on the volcano: This one can be tricky, as one of the closer animatronics might get in the way. But if you hit the volcano, it will erupt, creating a fun visual effect that’s worth aiming for.

Third room:

-The third room has Zurg himself. Aim for the lowest target below him. Remember how not all blasters are created equal? This could prove to make things difficult.

  • Zurg’s lowest target: In the third room, Zurg himself is your target. Aim for the lowest target below him. Remember, not all blasters are created equal so that it might be challenging.

Chances are, you won’t be able to hit this target when you’re directly in front of it. Instead, aim as you approach and again after you’ve passed by.

If you get this right, you could hit this target five or six times, adding up to an impressive 600,000 points!

1. Make The Most of Ride Interruptions

At Walt Disney World, there are several rides where the vehicle may temporarily stop, usually to give a guest a few extra moments to get on or off. While this might be a minor inconvenience on most rides, it’s actually a reason to celebrate on this one!

If your vehicle stops, don’t stop shooting! Even though the vehicle isn’t moving, your laser blaster still works. Take advantage of the pause, rotate your vehicle, aim for a high-value target, and hold down the trigger.

The longer you stay stopped, the more time you have to rack up those points!

Bonus tip:

If you reach Galactic Hero status, take a picture of your score and show it to a cast member when exiting the ride. They might just congratulate you with a special sticker to celebrate your accomplishment.

And if you don’t get a free sticker, don’t worry; share that victory shot with your friends and family, or post it on social media to make them all envious of your stellar skills!

It’s a great way to showcase your Disney expertise and maybe even inspire others to strive for Galactic Hero status!

With these tips and tricks in mind, you can become a Galactic Hero! Enjoy the fun of competing for the top spot with your friends and family.

Gear up, aim for those high-value targets, and let your inner Space Ranger shine as you blast your way to victory!
