Current work on the demolition of Muppets Courtyard is progressing rapidly as Disney steps into a new chapter for Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Heavy machinery has moved onto the site, making quick work of the Stage 1 Company Store, which once offered Muppets-themed merchandise. Previously, this storefront faced dwindling visitor interest and had remained largely closed in the past few years. Now, there is only one wall left standing, showcasing the swift nature of their demolition efforts.

As Disney channels its resources into creating a vibrant new world, the transition from Muppets to Monstropolis represents a significant cultural shift for Disney fans. While many will mourn the loss of the Muppets, they are hopeful that the new attractions will capture the magic of the park and draw in a new generation of visitors.

One cannot discuss the Muppets Courtyard without acknowledging the legacy of Muppet*Vision 3D. This beloved 4D theater experience was not just an attraction but also a heartfelt tribute to Jim Henson, the creative genius behind the Muppets. It represented his final project before his untimely passing in 1990, making it a cherished piece of Disney history.

The closure of Muppets Courtyard sparked mixed reactions among fans. Many took to social media to express their sadness over losing a cultural landmark and the beloved characters that had become synonymous with Disney’s charm. The Muppet characters built a community among fans, and saying goodbye was not an easy task for those who grew up with them.

While the Muppets bid adieu to their Courtyard home, they are not entirely leaving Disney World. Plans are underway for the Muppets to find a new home in 2026. The Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, currently a classic attraction in the park, is set for a transformation that will embrace the quirky spirit of the Muppet franchise. This change will mark a new chapter where fans can continue to enjoy their favorite characters in a fresh setting, albeit in a different form than before.

As for Monstropolis, the anticipated timeline for its completion aims for 2027, although Disney has yet to announce a specific opening date. As the demolition progresses and the creativity flows within the Disney parks, excitement abounds for the new attractions to come, and many are eager to see how the beloved Muppets will fit into the continuing evolution of Disney World.
