Walt Disney World has made a significant announcement that has excited fans everywhere: both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach water parks will operate simultaneously this summer. This marks a historic return, as it is the first time since 2019 that both parks will welcome guests at the same time. The opening is scheduled for May 21 and will continue until September 7, creating ample opportunities for guests to enjoy the refreshing water and thrilling attractions.

To prepare for this momentous occasion, Blizzard Beach will temporarily close from May 1 to May 20. This decision ensures that all renovations and safety protocols are in place for a smooth reopening, allowing guests to dive into summer fun right after.

Each water park offers a unique experience that attracts visitors of all ages. Blizzard Beach is themed around a snowy backdrop, complete with the thrilling “Summit Plummet,” one of the fastest free-fall slides in the world.
Meanwhile, Typhoon Lagoon charms guests with its lush tropical landscape and the thrilling “Crush ‘n’ Gusher,” a unique water coaster where visitors can enjoy the sensation of being on a roller coaster while splashing through water.

Dining and shopping options also complement the exhilarating attractions. At Typhoon Lagoon, visitors can savor tropical flavors at “Lean, Clean, and Green” while browsing through various shops for unique souvenirs. Blizzard Beach features hearty meals at “Lottawatta Lodge,” where families can refuel after an adventurous day. The variety of options available caters to everyone, whether guests seek snacks or full meals, making it a delightful experience for family outings.

Both parks ensure that guests of all ages have something to enjoy. From lazy rivers and wave pools for toddlers to thrilling slides for teenagers and adults, there’s a bit of magic for everyone. Families can bond over shared experiences while creating memories that last a lifetime.

Impact of COVID-19 on Disney Operations

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Disney’s operations has been significant. Following the closures in 2020, the park’s operating procedures underwent drastic changes, including limiting the open attractions.
Consequently, Disney alternated the opening of its water parks, leaving only one open at any given time to adhere to health protocols.

As parks began to reopen, many experiences were modified or scaled down. Although the return of both water parks marks a positive step in the right direction, there are still lingering effects. In efforts to maintain a safe environment, certain attractions may continue to operate with restrictions, and guest capacity might remain lower than pre-pandemic levels.

However, this gradual return to normalcy showcases Disney’s commitment to welcoming guests back safely while enhancing the overall experience. The phased approach aims to restore the beloved Disney magic while prioritizing health and safety.

Looking ahead, Walt Disney World has exciting plans in store for both its water parks and other theme parks. Renovations and new attractions are set to unfold across the resort, promising enhanced experiences for all guests. The transformation of DinoLand U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is just one of the upcoming renovations that have been announced.

Simultaneously, Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are poised to undergo construction, signaling a revitalization that will offer fresh experiences and attractions. Disney continuously seeks to innovate and excite, ensuring guests can always discover something new during their magical visit.

Additionally, Disneyland is also gearing up for enhancements and is expected to unveil its very own version of Disney World’s highly popular Pandora – The World of Avatar, further expanding the immersive offerings of the Disney experience.
