An Update to Rumors Surrounding Further Expansion at Disney
As Universal Orlando prepares to open its newest theme park addition next year, everyone wants to know how Disney plans to keep up!
Fresh off of comments from Disney CEO Bob Iger and Chairman of Disney Experiences, Josh D’Amaro, regarding park expansion, new rumors have surfaced, highlighting the possible expansion of one extremely popular Disney Park.
Although we’re mostly concerned with domestic parks here at Disney Dining, international Disney Parks like Disneyland Paris, Hong Kong Disneyland, Shanghai Disneyland, Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo DisneySea, and Disneyland Paris are notable as, according to Iger, they’ve been the only Disney Resort locations to turn a decent profit over last year.
With that in mind, of course, it would make sense for Disney to invest in their already profitable markets, and for this reason, commitment to expansion and investment in international parks has become a focus for The Walt Disney Company.
Although Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World are two of the most popular touring destinations in the world, Asian-based parks and Disneyland Paris are seeing an uptick in investment with new lands and intellectual properties like Toy Story, Frozen, Star Wars, Zootopia, The Little Mermaid and more.
One particular park, the first of its kind in Europe, Disneyland Paris, is now rumored to have received further expansion, according to @passwonderland on X, formerly Twitter.

The rumored update includes a Discovery expansion behind Space Mountain, Star Wars land with a Mandalorian coaster, a Future Fantasyland expansion, new backstage buildings, a new parade road, and a car park.
Although the new details are just rumors, the original poster suggests that more information may be detailed during the upcoming D23 Expo in August of this year.
Although many would like to see additional parks and lands added to what already exists in the United States, the silver lining to these rumors, if they’re true, is that success at places like Disneyland Paris could lend itself to expansion at Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland, and Disney California Adventure.
Expansion and makeovers aren’t just secured for Disney’s international markets.
New information presented at Destination D23 and during earnings calls suggests that Disneyland, Magic Kingdom, and Animal Kingdom could also see theme park expansions on the horizon.
Ultimately, although it seems like Universal may be at the top of the food chain in the current theme park war, it would be no surprise to anyone that Disney, being strong financially, will figure out a way to revise their plans in Florida and Southern California, bringing more magic to Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World.
