After Bulldozers Rolled In, a Classic Magic Kingdom Location Is Coming Back
Disney fans have learned to expect the unexpected—but few could’ve guessed this one. Just months after bulldozers tore through a beloved corner of Tomorrowland, Magic Kingdom is quietly preparing to bring it back.
From Dust to Disney Magic
When Cool Ship vanished earlier this year, it wasn’t subtle. The entire kiosk—famous for its bright red spaceship and mist-blasting refreshment area—was flattened. Guests riding the PeopleMover could see the trenches where the structure once stood, sparking speculation that the closure was permanent. For many, it felt like another nostalgic piece of Tomorrowland was gone for good.
Cool Ship wasn’t an attraction that drew long lines, but it was a fan-favorite for one simple reason: charm. It embodied the old-school sci-fi style that once defined Tomorrowland—quirky, colorful, and refreshingly weird. So when it was demolished, fans braced for something entirely different to take its place.
A Comeback No One Saw Coming
But fast-forward a few months, and that empty plot is buzzing again. Construction crews have moved in new equipment, set up two large menu boards, and installed a fresh, modern kiosk where the old ship once stood. Two ordering windows and a central pickup area are now visible through the walls, signaling that this isn’t a total replacement—it’s a reinvention.
Disney’s official website has even listed Cool Ship under its dining options once again, confirming that the fan-favorite will reopen later this year. The new version aligns perfectly with the rest of Tomorrowland’s makeover, featuring sleek metallic designs and minimalist lines that match TRON Lightcycle / Run and the soon-to-be-refurbished Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin.
Tomorrowland’s New Chapter
Cool Ship’s revival fits into a broader effort to unify Tomorrowland’s look. Over the years, the land became a mash-up of styles—some vintage, some futuristic, none truly cohesive. But now, Disney’s clearly charting a new course.
And yet, the irony isn’t lost on fans. For all of Disney’s modernization efforts, one of Tomorrowland’s most charming relics is returning—just reimagined for a new era. It’s proof that even as Magic Kingdom evolves, it still knows when to circle back to what worked.
When the mist starts flowing again, guests will have more than a cool breeze to look forward to—it’ll be a nostalgic reminder that even at Disney, some “blast from the past” moments really can come back to life.
