After 6 Days of Problems Disney World Takes Major Action at Wilderness Lodge

A Walt Disney World hotel stay is supposed to offer guests a break from the Florida heat, but that reportedly hasn’t been the case for some visitors staying at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.

A report from WDWNT revealed that the popular Deluxe Resort has been dealing with air conditioning issues that have stretched across several days. The situation became significant enough that Disney temporarily shut down air conditioning service on the morning of June 24 to perform maintenance work aimed at fixing the problem.

The timing has made the issue particularly frustrating for guests. Summer temperatures across Central Florida have remained extremely high, with heat index values reaching around 100 degrees. After spending a full day at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney’s Animal Kingdom, most guests return to their resort looking for relief from the heat.

Instead, some visitors reportedly encountered warm guest rooms, hallways, dining locations, and public spaces.

Some social media users claimed room temperatures climbed above 80 degrees during the outage. While those reports varied, they helped fuel growing discussion online as guests shared their experiences throughout the week.

The situation appeared to improve somewhat by the weekend, but reports suggested the issue was not completely resolved. Some rooms reportedly cooled down while other parts of the resort continued experiencing problems.

Disney also appeared to bring in temporary solutions while crews worked on repairs. Portable cooling units and box fans were reportedly visible inside portions of the resort, underscoring the ongoing efforts to manage conditions while the main system was being addressed.

One reason the story has generated so much attention is because Disney resorts often serve as a refuge from the weather. Guests regularly return to their hotels during the hottest hours of the day to cool off before heading back into the parks. At Wilderness Lodge, some guests reportedly found themselves doing the opposite and looking elsewhere for a comfortable place to escape the heat.

The outage may have also affected resort operations. A notice posted at the hotel indicated that reservations for Whispering Canyon Cafe were unavailable during the maintenance period, though Story Book Dining at Artist Point with Snow White remained open.

Some guests reportedly received compensation or alternative accommodations while Disney worked through the issue. Reports indicated that transfers to other Disney-owned hotels were offered in certain situations.

Wilderness Lodge remains one of Walt Disney World’s most popular Deluxe Resorts, making the outage especially noticeable among Disney fans. With additional maintenance now completed, many guests are hoping the resort can quickly return to the comfortable experience it is known for providing.
