Abandoned Land Now Returns to Disney World?

First, it was just a rumor. And now? Well, now Disney fans are starting to wonder if a certain retheme is only the beginning. The Rock ‘n’ Coaster is getting a big makeover. Could this be the moment Muppet Studios finally becomes a full-fledged land inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios?

It might sound far-fetched, but when you dig into the history and recent developments, the case is surprisingly strong.

What’s Going On With Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster?

Let’s start with what’s actually happening right now. Disney confirmed that Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster, once home to Aerosmith, is being reimagined with a Muppets theme. The details haven’t all been released, but the idea of the Muppets taking over one of the park’s most iconic thrill rides instantly grabbed everyone’s attention.

This isn’t a small move. Giving a major coaster to the Muppets signals more than just a refresh—it shows that Disney believes the franchise still has major theme park potential. And when you consider the coaster’s location—right next door to MuppetVision 3D—it starts to feel like more than a coincidence.

The Long-Lost Muppet Studios

To understand why fans are so excited, you have to go back to the late ’80s and early ’90s. Back then, Disney and Jim Henson were actively working on a brand-new Muppet Studios land. The plans were detailed and ambitious: a Muppet-style spoof of The Great Movie Ride, multiple themed restaurants, live shows, meet-and-greets—you name it.

Unfortunately, Henson’s unexpected passing put the project on hold, and most of the plans were shelved. All that survived was MuppetVision 3D, which has sadly come to an end. But for decades, the rest of the concept gathered dust in Disney’s archives.

Until now.

What Could a New Muppet Land Look Like?

So if Disney is finally blowing the dust off the old plans, what could a 2025 version of Muppet Studios include?

  • A revived Great Muppet Movie Ride, where guests ride through hilariously offbeat versions of blockbuster films. Think Mission: Impossible with Fozzie Bear or Titanic starring Miss Piggy.

  • Themed eateries, like the Swedish Chef’s restaurant, where things go hilariously wrong but still taste great.

  • An interactive Muppet Labs attraction, full of chaotic experiments run by Beaker and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew.

  • Electric Mayhem’s live music stage, giving fans a high-energy Muppet concert every day.

  • Statler and Waldorf’s sarcastic lounge, where you’re guaranteed to be roasted while you eat.

This wouldn’t just be a fun addition to the park—it would help Hollywood Studios stand out with something completely different from other lands built around realism and blockbuster franchises.

Now is the Perfect Time

Right now, the Muppets are enjoying a bit of a resurgence. Their chaotic charm, satirical humor, and nostalgic value make them a perfect fit for today’s audience. The Electric Mayhem series on Disney+ even brought them back into pop culture conversation.

And while Star Wars and Marvel dominate much of Disney’s current park plans, the Muppets offer something lighter, zanier, and family-friendly in a completely different way.

Add in the fact that the current area around Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster is underutilized, and this starts to feel less like wishful thinking and more like a real opportunity.

The Epic Muppet Takeover

Fans have waited a long time for Disney to do something big with the Muppets. With this new retheme officially in the works, the door is wide open. Whether Disney takes the leap and brings Muppet Studios to life remains to be seen—but the buzz is real, and the pieces are lining up.

For once, this doesn’t feel like an overactive fan theory. It feels like a comeback years in the making. And honestly? It’s about time.

  1. What are you talking about? Rocking Roller Coaster is NOT right next door to Muppet 3D Vision. They are literally on the opposite end of the park from each other.
