Walt Disney World is preparing for some major changes in 2027, and not every guest will be able to enjoy all the amenities available across the resort.
While Disney’s hotels are known for their impressive swimming pools, themed recreational areas, and unique dining experiences, visitors shouldn’t assume they can access everything simply because they’re staying on Disney property.
In fact, some guests could find themselves turned away from popular resort amenities, even if they’ve already paid hundreds of dollars for their hotel accommodations.
With several closures already confirmed and another Disney hotel preparing to open next summer, understanding these restrictions will be especially important in 2027.

Disney World Confirms Popular Resort Attractions Will Close in 2027
Disney’s BoardWalk Inn is preparing for an extended refurbishment that will temporarily eliminate access to several popular amenities.
Beginning January 11, 2027, the resort’s Luna Park Pool will close for routine maintenance. The closure will also affect the Luna Park Crazy Play Area and Leaping Horse Libations Pool Bar.
Disney expects these locations to reopen sometime in April 2027, meaning guests staying at the resort during the first several months of the year will have fewer recreational options.
The closure could be particularly disappointing for families who specifically book Disney’s BoardWalk Inn because of its themed swimming facilities.
Fortunately, Disney isn’t closing every pool at the resort.
The BoardWalk Inn Leisure Pool and BoardWalk Villas Leisure Pool will remain available throughout the refurbishment.
However, guests hoping to escape the construction by visiting another Disney hotel could encounter an unexpected problem.
Disney World Guests Could Be Denied Access to Other Resort Pools
Although Walt Disney World encourages visitors to explore its various resort hotels, the company has strict rules regarding swimming pool access.
Guests generally cannot use the swimming facilities at another Disney hotel simply because they’re staying somewhere else on property.
For example, someone staying at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn cannot automatically visit Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and use its popular swimming pool.
Many Disney hotels have gated swimming areas that require guests to verify their eligibility before entering.
Depending on the resort, visitors may need to scan a MagicBand, room key, or compatible mobile device.
These restrictions help ensure swimming facilities remain available to the guests staying at each hotel.
They can also affect access to certain poolside dining locations.
If a pool bar is located inside a restricted swimming area, unauthorized visitors generally cannot enter simply to purchase food or drinks.
However, some pool bars, including locations at Disney’s Pop Century Resort and the All-Star Resorts, are situated outside gated areas.
It’s important to note that these aren’t newly announced restrictions for 2027. Disney already maintains these policies, and there has been no confirmation of a new resort-wide crackdown.

Disney Makes Exceptions for Certain Hotel Guests
Despite the general restrictions, Disney does allow pool hopping between certain connected resort properties.
Guests staying at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter can enjoy their resort’s Doubloon Lagoon Pool and the Ol’ Man Island swimming complex at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside.
Visitors staying at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort, Disney’s All-Star Music Resort, or Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort can also generally use the pools across those three hotels.
Meanwhile, guests at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort share access to several swimming facilities, including Stormalong Bay.
That popular complex features a sand-bottom swimming area, lazy river, and pirate ship-themed waterslide.
However, guests staying at unrelated Disney hotels cannot simply visit Stormalong Bay and expect to be admitted.
Disney’s New 2027 Hotel Will Have Restricted Amenities
These policies will become especially relevant when Disney Lakeshore Lodge opens on July 1, 2027.
The new resort will feature a large recreational area known as the Wetlands, giving eligible hotel guests another place to relax.
However, visitors staying at other Disney resorts shouldn’t expect unrestricted access to its swimming facilities.
Under Disney’s existing policies, access is expected to remain limited to eligible resort guests.
That doesn’t necessarily mean visitors cannot explore publicly accessible areas of the new hotel. Swimming facilities, however, are treated differently from restaurants and common spaces.
For families planning their 2027 vacations, the message is simple: booking a Disney hotel doesn’t provide unlimited access to every resort amenity.
Between scheduled closures and existing access restrictions, guests should check exactly what’s available before choosing where to stay.
