Walt Disney World guests hoping for construction to wrap up at one of the resort’s most popular hotels will have to wait a little longer.
Disney has officially extended a major refurbishment project that was originally expected to finish before the end of 2026. Now, guests planning vacations in early 2027 could encounter construction activity, temporary closures, and changes around the property.

The announcement comes as Disney continues making improvements across its resort hotels, but this particular extension could affect travelers who have already booked their upcoming stays.
Here’s what Disney has confirmed and what guests should know before arriving.
Disney Confirms Polynesian Village Resort Construction Will Continue Into 2027
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is officially facing a longer refurbishment schedule.
According to an October 20 report from WDWMAGIC, Disney has updated its construction notice, extending the project’s expected completion from late 2026 into early 2027.
The refurbishment affects portions of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows.
One of the biggest projects involves reconfiguring the hotel’s front entrance roadway, which has created ongoing construction activity around the property.
Disney has also warned that some views of the theme parks and surrounding areas could be affected while crews continue working.
For guests who specifically book the Polynesian because of its location and views toward Magic Kingdom, that could be disappointing.

The resort is known for its tropical setting and relaxing atmosphere, making it a popular choice for families who want to spend time outside the theme parks.
However, construction activity could make certain areas less peaceful than visitors expect.
Disney has confirmed that work will be noticeable during daytime hours, although crews will attempt to limit disruptions.
The company has not provided an exact completion date beyond early 2027.
Disney Warns Guests To Expect Transportation Changes
Along with the extended construction timeline, Disney is advising guests to allow additional travel time when entering or leaving the resort.
The ongoing roadway reconfiguration could affect how visitors navigate the property, particularly during busier arrival and departure periods.
While Disney has not announced a complete shutdown of the resort’s entrance, guests should follow posted directions and prepare for potential inconveniences.

Families heading to early dining reservations or planning to arrive at the theme parks before opening may want to leave themselves extra time.
The construction could also affect guests who prefer spending afternoons relaxing at their hotel.
Fortunately, Disney says most restaurants, swimming pools, and resort amenities will remain available throughout the project.
That means visitors should still have access to many of the experiences that make the Polynesian a popular Deluxe Resort destination.
However, temporary closures remain possible.
Popular Polynesian Location Remains Closed
Another ongoing change involves Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace.
Disney has confirmed that the outdoor location will remain temporarily closed through late October because of refurbishment work at the Great Ceremonial House.
The closure is expected to be temporary, and Disney’s latest notice suggests the location could reopen soon.

However, the company has not announced a specific reopening date.
Guests hoping to visit Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace should check its operating status before making plans.
Meanwhile, the larger resort refurbishment will continue for several additional months.
With construction now extending into early 2027, travelers should review Disney’s refurbishment notices before booking or arriving.
Although most amenities will remain available, guests could still encounter construction noise, affected views, and additional travel time.
For now, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort remains open, but its ongoing transformation is taking longer than originally expected.
