Universal Orlando Broadcasts Park-Wide Warning, Guests Face Removal

Halloween Horror Nights is built on scares, but a few recent reports show how fast a fun night can tip into a bad one. Universal Orlando Resort now plays a reminder in haunted house queues, and a separate incident at the Hollywood event has people talking.

This report lays out the events in order, then the rules in plain terms. Each claim is attributed to its source, anything alleged is labeled as such, and the gaps are stated openly.

Order matters here. The Hollywood incident was reported before the Orlando announcement surfaced, but the reports we have don’t say the two are connected, and we aren’t suggesting that they are.

October 11: The Hollywood Incident

According to a report, a performer portraying the character Nikki at Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood cut short a meet and greet amid alleged harassment from guests. It says she wasn’t touched, but young guests yelled at her while she was talking to others.

A separate report places the encounter outside the Dead, Deader, Deadest haunted house. It says teenagers allegedly interrupted another guest’s interaction with the character. A team member stepped in, but the performer ultimately broke character and left the area.

October 13: An Eyewitness Account Is Reported

An eyewitness account, shared by Instagram user justindiaz7567 and reported on October 13, describes teenagers shouting toward the performer and repeatedly chanting a phrase associated with the horror film. Nikki was behind a barrier at the time.

A character attendant reportedly told the group to stop interrupting other guests. The teenagers continued, so Nikki addressed them directly and signaled she needed to leave. Another team member escorted her backstage. It was captured in a guest-shared video.

According to the report, Universal Studios Hollywood has not publicly confirmed the full circumstances or announced disciplinary action against those involved.

October 17: The Orlando Announcement

On Saturday, October 17, X user @MaxThemeParked shared a video with part of a new announcement. The report says guests waiting in line for Halloween Horror Nights houses at Universal Orlando Resort will now hear a reminder not to touch scareactors. It was recently added to Halloween Horror Nights 35 and plays periodically in the queues for all the haunted houses.

The Rules, Spelled Out

According to the report, a voice states: “We ask that you do not touch performers, threaten or harass others, use obscene language, jump ahead in line, or engage in horseplay. Failure to follow these guidelines will result in removal from the event.”

Because the video included only part of the announcement, the wording we have may not be the full recording.

Do and Don’t

Based on that announcement, here’s the short version.

  • Don’t touch performers.
  • Don’t threaten or harass others.
  • Don’t use obscene language.
  • Don’t jump ahead in line.
  • Don’t engage in horseplay.
  • Do expect removal from the event if the guidelines aren’t followed.

That list comes straight from the announcement as reported, and we haven’t added any rules of our own. The report adds that touching of scareactors, whether accidental or purposeful, is a frequent problem at all kinds of haunts, including Halloween Horror Nights. It says performers aren’t supposed to touch guests either, though they may come close during a scare.

Who Nikki Is

Nikki comes from Obsession (2026). The report says Universal didn’t build a dedicated haunted house around the film. It introduced the character through special appearances at the Hollywood event, and its official 2026 announcements listed Freaky Nikki in the lineup alongside haunted houses, scare zones, and the Terror Tram. The report says the unpredictable appearances were meant to give visitors another reason to explore the park.

What Isn’t Known

We don’t know whether the new announcement was added to the Hollywood event, since the report says it doesn’t know. We don’t know whether the teenagers were warned, removed, or faced other consequences. And there’s no verified announcement that Nikki has been removed, that roaming encounters have been canceled, or that new restrictions were introduced because of the incident.

Possibilities such as added staffing or more controlled appearances are speculation, and we aren’t predicting what Universal will decide.

What the Code of Conduct Says

According to the report, Universal’s published Code of Conduct explicitly prohibits verbal harassment, threatening conduct, and disruptive shouting that interferes with normal operations, and Universal reserves the right to deny entry or remove visitors who violate its rules.

The report points to a distinction between reacting loudly to a scare and repeatedly interfering with a performer who is entertaining someone else.

Orlando and Hollywood Are Separate

The report says earlier encounters involving Art the Clown at Universal Orlando Resort reportedly included guests touching performers, interfering with props, and surrounding characters. An earlier report described barriers and nearby security at certain encounters, but Universal hadn’t announced a companywide roaming-character restriction.

Hollywood and Orlando run separate events with different entertainment arrangements, according to the report, so the Nikki incident doesn’t show that Orlando has changed its procedures.

For Your Own Haunt Night

Keep your hands to yourself, follow team member directions, and let performers lead their interactions. Don’t count on every character being available for photos or long encounters.

A caption in the report says Halloween Horror Nights 35 runs on select nights from August 29 through November 1, 2026, and the Hollywood report adds that individual experiences there remain subject to operational changes. Neither report mentions Disney. If you’re pairing a haunt night with Disney days on an Orlando trip, check each park’s official page for details first.
