Disney World Confirms Santa Claus Change for 2026 Holiday Season
Santa Claus is getting a new home at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park this Christmas, as Walt Disney World Resort unveils its plans for the 2026 holiday season across the Central Florida theme parks.
Holiday Plans Revealed

Walt Disney World Resort shared its holiday lineup on Tuesday, covering offerings beyond the after-hours Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and Disney Jollywood Nights events. The announcement included brand-new ride overlays, returning limited-time entertainment, and a changed Santa Claus meet-and-greet at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. The holiday season runs from November 13, 2026, through January 6, 2027.
Why Santa Had to Move

Last year, Santa met guests at Restaurantosaurus, the Quick-Service restaurant in DinoLand U.S.A. That spot is no longer an option. The restaurant closed permanently in February along with the rest of DinoLand U.S.A., which is being cleared for Pueblo Esperanza, a Tropical Americas-themed land. Three attractions are planned for the new area at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park: Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto, and El Carrusel de los Animalitos. The land is expected to open in 2027.
Introducing Santa’s Holiday Grove

Santa’s new home is Santa’s Holiday Grove, a limited-time experience set across from Finding Nemo: The Big Blue … and Beyond! at Theater in the Wild. Disney says guests will “find a magical trail with intermittent snow flurries and Santa himself, ready to hear your holiday wish list.” Specialty food and beverage offerings, along with a festive soundtrack, will round out the experience.
Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t said when Santa’s Holiday Grove will open at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
What Happens After Christmas

Santa typically leaves his meet-and-greet spots at the Central Florida Disney parks by Christmas Day, with a fan favorite in festive attire, such as Santa Goofy, often stepping in. Whether another character will take over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom after Christmas Eve hasn’t been announced.
