Both ‘Star Wars’ Savi’s Workshop Locations Announce Updates for Disney Park Guests
Anyone planning to build a lightsaber on Batuu has new options to consider, as the Savi’s Workshop locations at Disneyland Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios receive a round of upgrades that take effect immediately.
A Refreshed Hilt Design
Disney Parks Blog announced the changes on October 5, headlined by an updated version of the “Protection and Defense” hilt theme. The new build features white finishes accented with rich gold detailing, giving Disney Park guests a lightsaber that looks distinct from earlier versions.
Inspiration comes from the High Republic era’s optimism and grandeur, and the hilt is decorated with mysterious ancient Jedi iconography meant to honor those who dedicated themselves to protecting others. Disney describes the theme as one that “reflects a time when the Order stood as a symbol of peace and hope across the galaxy.”
This marks just the second hilt theme to get a third-generation overhaul. “Power and Control” was the first, receiving its own update in May 2026.
Enhancements for Every Build
Guests who prefer a different hilt still benefit from the recent enhancement at both Savi’s Workshop locations. Disney says the chassis and blade in every lightsaber, whatever the theme, now feature a thermal-cutting effect, deflection effects, a spinning effect, improved audio quality, and smoother blade activation.
A new color-change option is also available for those who add a special “cracked” Kyber crystal. By using “a quick flick of the wrist, showcasing the inner battle between the light side and the dark side of the Force,” the blade switches from blue to red.
Booking Your Build
Disney Parks Blog says the upgraded lightsabers can already be purchased on Planet Batuu at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. Because Savi’s Workshop sees near-constant demand, advance reservations are highly recommended, and a lightsaber purchase is required to participate in the experience.
