Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are all affected. Disney’s Animal Kingdom is the lone exception, operating on its standard schedule throughout October apart from Extended Evening Hours for eligible Deluxe Resort guests.
Two Dates Take Hits at Both Ends
The most disruptive days on the calendar are October 23 and October 25. On both dates, EPCOT opens late at 10 a.m., while Magic Kingdom closes to day guests at 6 p.m.
The overlap effectively shuts down one of the resort’s most popular park-hopping routines: rope drop at EPCOT followed by an evening at Magic Kingdom. Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom appear to be the most flexible choices on those days, although guests should expect both to draw visitors who have reached the same conclusion.
Halloween Party Claims 16 Nights at Magic Kingdom
Magic Kingdom carries the heaviest load of restrictions by a wide margin. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party runs on 16 October evenings, and on each one, guests without a party ticket must leave the park by 6 p.m.
Party dates fall on October 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 13, 15, 16, 18, 22, 23, 25, 27, 29, and 31.
The event begins at 7 p.m. and includes exclusive entertainment such as Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade and Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks. It is now sold out.
Day guests on party nights lose access to Magic Kingdom’s regular nighttime offerings, including Happily Ever After and Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away. With party nights covering more than half the month, this is the restriction October visitors are most likely to encounter.
EPCOT Pushes Back Opening for Wine & Dine Weekend
EPCOT will open to regular guests at 10 a.m. rather than 9 a.m. on October 23 and October 25. Early Theme Park Entry shifts to 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on both mornings.
The schedule change coincides with the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend. The Wine & Dine 5K is held on October 23, with the half marathon on October 25. As runDisney routes pass through and around the park, EPCOT becomes the last Walt Disney World park to open on each date.
The delay compresses the early-morning window many guests use to reach Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Frozen Ever After, and Test Track before standby waits climb. Crowds that would normally arrive across the morning may instead enter at once. Guests planning EPCOT on either date may want to begin at another park or take a slower morning at their resort.
Hollywood Studios Loses Four Evening Hours on October 20
Disney’s Hollywood Studios will close to regular guests at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, four hours ahead of its usual 9 p.m. closing. Morning operations are unchanged, with Early Theme Park Entry at 8:30 a.m. and general admission at 9 a.m.
The closure makes way for a private evening event connected to the Gartner IT Symposium/Xpo 2026, which takes place at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin from October 19 to 22. The event runs inside the park from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Private events are a regular feature of the Walt Disney World calendar, but a four-hour reduction at one of the resort’s most popular parks is a notable one. Guests hoping to ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance or Twilight Zone Tower of Terror after dark will need to choose another evening.

With private events, runDisney weekends, and Halloween programming reshaping the schedule simultaneously, October 2026 is not a month to assume standard operating hours. Checking the park calendar before finalizing plans could separate a smooth day from an unexpected early exit.
