This Crystal Palace Change Could Affect Your Next Magic Kingdom Dining Reservation
A months-long mystery project outside the Crystal Palace appears to be nearing completion, as Walt Disney World Resort removes construction walls from the walkway leading to the beloved Winnie the Pooh-themed dining location at Magic Kingdom Park.
Two Months of Quiet Construction Outside the Crystal Palace
Construction walls first appeared around a section of walkway near the Crystal Palace back in late July. Over the following two months, Disney gradually repaved the area and added new railings, widening the pavement in the process.
As is often the case with smaller construction projects, Walt Disney World Resort never publicly acknowledged the work. Disney typically stays quiet about projects that don’t significantly disrupt the guest experience, and true to that pattern, the Crystal Palace restaurant remained open and fully operational throughout the entire process.
Where Things Stand at Magic Kingdom Park Now
Roughly two months after construction began, Disney appears to be finishing up work outside the Table-Service restaurant. WDWNT reported on September 28 that the plywood barriers surrounding the resurfaced pavement had been removed, though rolling planters still block guest access to the area.
Those planters currently sit atop what appears to be a newly installed curb and railings designed to match the surrounding landscaping. Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t clarified what purpose this space will ultimately serve. Since the area serves as something of a dead end, it could provide additional stroller parking for Crystal Palace guests or simply serve as a waiting area for families expecting to be called to their table.
Throughout the entire refurbishment, the Crystal Palace has remained open, and Walt Disney World Resort has given no indication that it plans to pause dining reservations or close the restaurant at any point.
