What Happened? Disney Restarts Ride Refurbishment Just Days After Construction Ended
Just when Southern California Disney Park guests thought construction had wrapped up at Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, Disneyland Resort has unexpectedly resumed work on the Tomorrowland attraction, catching Disney Parks fans by surprise.
A Refurbishment That Seemed Finished

Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters originally closed from April to June for a combination of exterior updates and interior ride improvements. According to Disney cast members who spoke with WDWNT, that project included replacing the ride’s operating computer system, installing new phones for attraction staff, upgrading interior lighting, and improving the Zurg audio-animatronic.
During that same stretch, Disney also repainted several elements of the building housing both the ride and its neighboring gift shop, Little Green Men Store Command. Just last week, the final visible signs of construction disappeared from the area, leading most theme park fans to assume the refurbishment was complete.

That assumption didn’t last long.
Construction Returns Unexpectedly

WDWNT reported on Wednesday that gray scrim and blue construction walls had reappeared around a portion of the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters building, seemingly out of nowhere. The outlet shared an image documenting the surprise return of construction equipment in Tomorrowland.
Disney cast members told WDWNT that this new phase of work is focused on exterior painting and additional renovations to the attraction’s facade. It remains unclear whether the Tomorrowland building will look noticeably different once this latest round of construction concludes.

Despite the renewed construction activity, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters continues operating normally for Disneyland Park guests. Disneyland Resort’s official website does not indicate that the ride is headed toward another full closure.
