‘Chad Powers’ Ending Confirmed as Hulu Eyes Season 3
Chad Powers may be heading back onto the field one more time, but its creators aren’t planning to keep the game going forever.
Season 2 of Hulu’s Glen Powell comedy leaves the story wide open for another batch of episodes. Several important questions remain unanswered, and the season ends without providing anything close to a definitive conclusion.
That naturally puts attention on Season 3.
Hulu hasn’t officially renewed the series yet, so another season isn’t guaranteed. However, co-creator Michael Waldron has now made one part of the show’s future surprisingly clear.
If Chad Powers gets Season 3, that’s where the story is supposed to end.
Season 3 Would Finish the Story
Waldron has been unusually direct about how long he and Powell expect the series to last.
“We’ve always said this is a three-season story,” Waldron told The Wrap following Season 2.
He also told Men’s Journal that the plan is to make one more season and then “wrap it up.”
The reasoning goes back to the structure of Chad Powers itself.

The story unfolds across one college football season. Rather than stretching that premise across an unlimited number of seasons, Waldron and Powell have envisioned a defined three-season arc.
Waldron says he already knows how he wants the story to end.
First, Hulu needs to let him tell it.
Hulu Still Hasn’t Announced Season 3
Despite the creative plan, there is an important difference between knowing how a series should end and receiving permission to make those episodes.
Hulu has not officially ordered Chad Powers Season 3 as of September 2026.
Season 2 certainly creates an opening for it.
Chad’s increasingly complicated secret now involves several people, including Tricia, who plans to help protect his fake identity. His relationship with Ricky creates another major problem after Coach Hudson discovers them together.
Then there’s football itself.
Chad intends to return to South Georgia for another season and remains focused on pursuing a national championship.
Ending the series where Season 2 stops would leave all of those threads hanging.
Could ‘Chad Powers’ Return in 2027?
No release date exists for Season 3 because Hulu hasn’t announced the renewal.
However, both previous seasons arrived in September around the beginning of college football season. Season 2 also moved from renewal through production and release in less than a year.
Whether that pattern continues depends on what Hulu decides next.
Waldron has already renewed his overall deal with 20th Television, and he has indicated that Season 2 expanded the show’s audience. Still, public viewership figures haven’t been released.
What fans do know is that the creative team isn’t looking for an endless extension.
If Hulu brings Chad Powers back, the next chapter is expected to settle the remaining questions and deliver the ending Waldron already has planned.
Season 3 hasn’t been confirmed yet.
