Universal Orlando Resort will be packed with Halloween activity this October, but returning guests may quickly notice a few familiar experiences are missing.
Halloween Horror Nights brings haunted houses, scare zones, entertainment, and specialty food to Universal Studios Florida. At the same time, several other parts of a typical Universal vacation won’t be available.
Five notable experiences are either temporarily closed or permanently gone. The list stretches from a longtime restaurant and horror show to major rides that once played significant roles in the parks.
For October 2026 visitors, knowing what’s unavailable before arriving could make planning much easier.
Fast & Furious: Supercharged Has Permanently Closed
One of the most recent changes awaits guests at Universal Studios Florida.
Fast & Furious: Supercharged closed forever in August 2026. Guests had their final opportunity to experience the attraction on August 16, with its permanent closure beginning August 17.
The ride opened in 2018 and sent guests aboard a party bus for an adventure featuring characters from the Fast & Furious franchise.
There’s no reopening date. Supercharged is finished for good.
However, Universal isn’t walking away from Fast & Furious. Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is scheduled to open at Universal Studios Florida in 2027 as a completely different roller coaster experience.
October guests will arrive during the gap between the old attraction’s closure and the new coaster’s debut.

Jurassic Park River Adventure Remains Out of Action
The next major absence is at Universal Islands of Adventure.
Jurassic Park River Adventure closed January 5, 2026, for a lengthy refurbishment and won’t reopen in time for October vacations. The attraction is currently scheduled to return on November 20.
The ride sends guests aboard boats through Jurassic Park before the situation takes a dangerous turn. Dinosaurs appear along the route before riders eventually escape with an 85-foot plunge.
With Orlando temperatures still hot during October, losing a major water attraction could be particularly noticeable for guests spending an entire day at Islands of Adventure.
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit Has Disappeared
Another change at Universal Studios Florida dates back even further.
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit permanently closed in August 2025 after roughly 16 years of operation. Universal removed the coaster to clear the way for Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift.
Rip Ride Rockit’s towering lift hill once formed a familiar part of the skyline near the front of Universal Studios Florida. Guests returning after several years away may notice its absence almost immediately.
There’s no comeback planned. Instead, Universal is moving forward as Hollywood Drift prepares for its 2027 opening.

Finnegan’s Bar & Grill Stays Closed Through October
Not every missing experience involves a ride.
Finnegan’s Bar & Grill at Universal Studios Florida closed January 12, 2026, for an extensive refurbishment. Universal expects the Irish-American pub to return during winter 2026, leaving it unavailable throughout October.
Finnegan’s sits across from Revenge of the Mummy in a busy section of the park and provides a traditional sit-down dining option. Visitors who previously dined at the restaurant or took a break from the crowds will need another option.
That becomes particularly noticeable when Halloween Horror Nights crowds begin arriving for evenings at Universal Studios Florida.
Horror Make-Up Show Won’t Be Part of Halloween Trips
One of the more unusual October absences involves an attraction practically made for spooky season.
Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show closed May 12, 2026, for a major refurbishment. The reimagined experience isn’t expected to return until winter 2026, keeping it dark throughout October.
The longtime show mixes comedy with demonstrations showing guests how horror effects come to life, giving it a natural connection to Universal’s Halloween season.
October visitors won’t be able to experience the horror-focused show during the day before moving into the more intense scares of Halloween Horror Nights that evening.

An October Universal Trip Will Look Different
October visitors still have plenty to experience, but these five absences are worth factoring into vacation plans.
Jurassic Park River Adventure, Finnegan’s Bar & Grill, and Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show remain temporarily unavailable. Fast & Furious: Supercharged and Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit have permanently disappeared.
Fortunately, Halloween Horror Nights 2026 continues throughout October at Universal Studios Florida, offering haunted houses, scare zones, entertainment, specialty food, and plenty of scares after dark.
The attraction lineup may look different, but Universal’s biggest Halloween celebration will still give October visitors plenty to experience.
