Disney World guests looking for a different way to spend an afternoon around the resort will soon have another option at Disney’s BoardWalk.
The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant by Gwendolyn Rogers is introducing a new happy hour beginning Monday, September 14. Rather than requiring guests to sit down for a full meal, the new offering will bring cocktails, wine, smaller food options, and a specialty shake to the restaurant’s bar and lounge.
It could be especially interesting for visitors who have wanted to try The Cake Bake Shop but haven’t been ready to spend the money on a traditional meal or one of its elaborate desserts.
Happy Hour Is Coming September 14
The new happy hour will run Monday through Thursday from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.
That gives guests three hours during the afternoon to stop by, although the special menu won’t be offered throughout the entire restaurant. Happy hour will specifically be available at the bar and bar lounge.
The schedule could make it relatively easy to fit into a Disney World day.
Guests spending the morning at EPCOT or Disney’s Hollywood Studios could head toward Disney’s BoardWalk during an afternoon break. Those staying at one of the nearby resorts will also have a new option when they’re looking for something to do between lunch and dinner.
However, weekend visitors should pay attention to the schedule. The announced happy hour only runs Monday through Thursday, leaving Friday through Sunday out of the lineup for now.
Drinks Aren’t the Only Thing Coming
While “happy hour” might immediately bring cocktails to mind, The Cake Bake Shop plans to offer more than drinks.
The upcoming menu will feature signature cocktails and wines alongside small bites. A preview for the offering shows French fries and hamburger sliders among the food choices.
There will also be a specialty Cake Bake Cake Shake.
That could be one of the more interesting choices considering the restaurant’s reputation for elaborate sweets. Guests who aren’t interested in alcohol could potentially use happy hour as an opportunity to stop in for the specialty shake and something small to eat.
The full menu hasn’t been revealed yet, and prices remain another major unknown.
That’s particularly important at The Cake Bake Shop, where some desserts cost around $22. The restaurant isn’t necessarily known as a budget dining destination, so the final happy hour prices could determine whether this becomes a more affordable way to experience the location.
A Different Way to Try The Cake Bake Shop
Not every Disney World guest wants another full sit-down meal during a packed vacation.
That’s where this new option could fit nicely.
Instead of making The Cake Bake Shop the centerpiece of lunch or dinner, guests can stop by during the afternoon and order something smaller. A couple could grab drinks and share an appetizer, while someone primarily interested in the restaurant’s sweeter side could try the Cake Bake Cake Shake.
The BoardWalk location also makes it convenient because guests don’t need theme park admission to visit.
With a three-hour window and a menu built around drinks and smaller bites, The Cake Bake Shop is creating a more casual way for guests to experience the restaurant.
