On September 3, Disney Confirms Closure of Two ‘Toy Story’ Attractions
Toy Story (1995) fans visiting Disney parks on two different continents are running into closed attractions this week, though the circumstances behind each shutdown couldn’t be more different.
Trouble in Florida, Planned Maintenance in France
At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Walt Disney World Resort continues to grapple with the indefinite closure of Slinky Dog Dash in Toy Story Land, due to ongoing technical issues, with no confirmed reopening date. Meanwhile, an entirely separate Toy Story ride overseas has entered its own closure — this one planned and time-limited.
Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop, situated in the Worlds of Pixar land at Disney Adventure World (formerly Walt Disney Studios Park), shut down for refurbishment on September 3, 2026. Disneyland Paris Resort has already confirmed the ride will reopen on September 10, 2026, offering a much clearer timeline than its Florida counterpart.
A Look at the Construction Site
X (formerly known as Twitter) user @DLPReport posted a photo on September 3, showing construction walls wrapped around the towering ride, writing:

Given the short turnaround, European Disney Park guests likely won’t notice major changes when the attraction reopens. The brief window points toward routine work, whether that’s technical maintenance on the ride system or touch-ups to the attraction’s decor and queue.
An Attraction Exclusive to Overseas Parks
Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop isn’t found at either U.S. Disney destination — Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort. The ride debuted in Walt Disney Studios Park (now Disney Adventure World) at Disneyland Paris Resort in 2010, with a version of the same concept later opening at Hong Kong Disneyland in 2011.
Disneyland Paris Resort’s official ride description reads:
“At Disney Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop Sarge has enlisted you to his little green regiment. But first you need to learn to parachute. So buckle up recruit, follow your orders and brace yourself for a thrilling 82-foot drop above an army base full of lookout towers and over-sized green toy soldiers. It’s as if you’re part of one big play set!”
