That return did not last.

By around 10:00 a.m., Slinky Dog Dash was down once more. As of 2:00 p.m., the attraction had not yet reopened, prolonging a rough stretch for a ride many families consider a top priority at Hollywood Studios.

Slinky Dog Dash Has Become a Major Hollywood Studios Draw

Part of what makes this latest closure so frustrating is just how important Slinky Dog Dash has become inside the park.

The coaster sits in Toy Story Land, where Disney designed the entire area around the idea that guests have shrunk down to toy size inside Andy’s backyard.

Slinky Dog Dash fits that theme with bright colors, familiar characters, and a ride experience that sits somewhere between a kiddie coaster and a more traditional thrill ride.

The Problems Started Before Thursday

That meant guests went through three straight full park days without access to the coaster.

Thursday morning finally appeared to bring some relief.

Slinky Dog Dash opened with Disney’s Hollywood Studios for Early Entry, ending the multi-day closure and giving guests a chance to ride again.

Only a few hours later, the attraction stopped operating.

The shutdown happened at roughly 10:00 a.m., and the ride remained unavailable several hours later.

Weather later moved into the area, but the coaster reportedly closed before those conditions arrived. That means weather may not have been the only factor behind the latest downtime.

Disney has not announced an official cause.

A ride vehicle was seen stopped near the second launch area, and an electrical panel nearby was open. Those observations do not prove what caused the problem, but they add another layer of uncertainty to an already unusual week for the attraction.

Disney May Need More Time to Get Things Right

At this point, Disney has not announced any refurbishment for Slinky Dog Dash.

There is also no confirmed timetable for the coaster’s return.

Alien Swirling Saucers offers another ride nearby, with guests spinning around while the Little Green Men take over the experience.

Visitors can also spend time meeting characters, exploring the oversized details throughout Andy’s backyard, or stopping for food.

Woody’s Lunch Box gives guests a quick-service option, while Roundup Rodeo BBQ offers a larger themed dining experience.

Those choices can help fill the gap, but they may not fully replace Slinky Dog Dash for guests who had specifically planned to ride the coaster.

Another Frustrating Turn for Disney Guests
