Disney’s Hollywood Studios Area Closed Without Announcement, Effective September 2
Guests navigating Disney’s Hollywood Studios are running into unexpected detours along one of the park’s busiest walkways, as Walt Disney World Resort works through an unannounced pavement refresh on Sunset Boulevard.
A Major Thoroughfare Sectioned Off at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
On Wednesday, WDWNT reported that Walt Disney World Resort had roped off a significant portion of Sunset Boulevard, the walkway that connects Hollywood Boulevard to major attractions including the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, and Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After.
White ropes now surround a section of pavement outside the Once Upon A Time merchandise shop. That area is noticeably darker than the surrounding walkway, a clear sign of freshly poured concrete.
Work in the area doesn’t appear finished, either. Crews have scored another nearby section of pavement directly adjacent to the roped-off area, a typical indication that the section is next in line to be torn up and replaced.
What Guests Should Expect
As is often the case with routine infrastructure projects, Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t issued any public comment on this pavement work. It’s unclear whether Disney intends to continue replacing additional sections of Sunset Boulevard to match the newly poured concrete already visible. Disney typically handles walkway refurbishments in phases, aiming to minimize guest disruption while maintaining visual consistency in the finished product.
Fortunately, the construction hasn’t affected access to nearby attractions. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage remain open and operating normally, and guests can still visit dining and merchandise locations along Sunset Boulevard, including Once Upon A Time — though some navigating around the roped-off pavement may be necessary.
