Guests heading to Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa this fall will find one recreational option unavailable for much longer than a typical maintenance closure.
Both of the resort’s clay tennis courts have closed for resurfacing, with the project expected to continue through November 2026.
That means the courts could remain unavailable for several months.
Disney hasn’t announced an exact reopening date, either. The current plan simply calls for the courts to return once resurfacing is complete, leaving guests visiting later this fall without a firm timeline.
For vacationers who planned to play tennis during their stay, this is one refurbishment worth knowing about before arriving.
Both Tennis Courts Are Closed
The closure began in late August as Disney started resurfacing the two clay courts at Saratoga Springs.
Unlike a smaller maintenance project that might take an amenity offline for a few days, this work will stretch across much of the fall.
Guests visiting throughout September and October should expect the courts to remain unavailable. The closure also extends through November, although Disney hasn’t revealed exactly when that month the project should wrap up.
That uncertainty could particularly affect Thanksgiving travelers or other guests with November reservations.
Until Disney announces something more specific, visitors shouldn’t assume the courts will reopen at the beginning of November.
Instead, anyone staying at Saratoga Springs during the announced refurbishment window should prepare for the possibility that tennis won’t be available.
This Isn’t a Permanent Removal
While the long closure could be disappointing, Disney isn’t eliminating the courts.
The current project is focused on resurfacing them, with plans to reopen the recreational area once the work is finished.
That’s an important difference, especially as Disney continues making changes throughout its resorts and theme parks.
This project is about maintaining an existing amenity rather than replacing it.
Still, several months is a significant amount of downtime.
Guests who spend most of their vacation inside Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney’s Animal Kingdom may never notice the closure.
Others could have a very different experience.
Saratoga Springs is a large resort, and some guests intentionally schedule time to enjoy the property. Tennis can be part of those plans, especially during longer vacations with days away from the parks.
Those guests will need to find another way to spend that time this fall.
November Remains the Big Question
The most important thing to watch now is Disney’s reopening timeline.
We know the resurfacing work will continue through November, but we don’t know when the courts will actually return.
That could become increasingly important as the holiday travel season approaches.
A guest arriving in September can reasonably expect the courts to be unavailable. The same applies to someone traveling in October.
November visitors have less certainty.
Disney could eventually announce a specific reopening date as work progresses. Until that happens, however, guests should consider the courts unavailable when making plans.
The good news is that they’ll eventually return with refreshed playing surfaces.
For now, though, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa is facing an extended recreational closure that will continue for months rather than days.
