Major Disney World Coaster Suddenly Goes Offline, Remains Closed for Second Day
Guests arriving at Disney’s Hollywood Studios have one fewer major attraction to choose from right now.
Slinky Dog Dash has been unexpectedly closed for an extended period, with the popular Toy Story Land coaster failing to operate throughout August 31. The situation continued September 1, when the attraction remained unavailable as of 10 a.m.
That makes this more than the routine downtime Disney World guests occasionally encounter.

Disney has not announced what caused the closure, and there is currently no confirmed reopening time.
An Unusual Shutdown at Hollywood Studios
Temporary attraction closures happen every day across Walt Disney World. A technical issue can sometimes stop a ride for a few minutes or several hours before operations resume.
Slinky Dog Dash has now experienced something much more noticeable.
The coaster did not operate at any point on August 31. When September 1 arrived, guests hoping the attraction would return with the start of a new operating day were met with another closure.
As of 10 a.m., it still had not reopened.
That’s significant considering Slinky Dog Dash’s role at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Since opening with Toy Story Land in 2018, the family coaster has become one of the area’s biggest attractions.
For many families, it is also a priority attraction when planning a day at Hollywood Studios.
Disney Hasn’t Announced a Reopening Time
The biggest problem for guests is the lack of a timeline.
Disney has not publicly explained why Slinky Dog Dash is unavailable. There was also reportedly no My Disney Experience push notification providing additional information as of Tuesday morning.
Cast Members were reportedly unable to provide a reopening estimate as well.
That leaves guests with little choice but to continue monitoring My Disney Experience throughout the day.
It’s important not to assume that the extended downtime means a major problem has occurred. Disney has not announced a refurbishment, maintenance project, or lengthy planned closure for the attraction.
Right now, all that is confirmed is that Slinky Dog Dash has remained unavailable for an unusually long stretch.

The Closure Could Affect Hollywood Studios Plans
When an attraction this popular goes offline, the effects can extend beyond Toy Story Land.
Guests who would normally wait for Slinky Dog Dash may instead head toward other major Hollywood Studios attractions, potentially putting additional pressure on rides elsewhere in the park.
Anyone visiting soon should therefore check the coaster’s operating status before making it a major part of their touring strategy.
For now, Slinky Dog Dash remains unexpectedly closed, and Disney has not said when guests will be able to ride again.
