Disney World guests planning a Christmas trip have an important September date coming up, and it could change how they spend one of Magic Kingdom’s biggest holiday nights.
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party already packs plenty into a few hours. However, guests can extend the evening with five bookable experiences that pair familiar Magic Kingdom favorites with the Christmas party atmosphere.
For most guests, the opportunity to grab one of those reservations arrives September 9.
Christmas Takes Over Magic Kingdom
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party brings holiday entertainment to Magic Kingdom on select nights during November and December.
The separately ticketed event takes place after regular park hours and features experiences guests won’t find on an ordinary evening. Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade rolls through the park, while Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks lights up the sky.
Characters, Christmas decorations, seasonal treats, and holiday music add to the experience. Main Street, U.S.A., becomes particularly festive, complete with the chance to see “snow” falling in Central Florida.
But guests hoping to make the most of their party night have more than entertainment to plan.
Disney Opens Reservations in September
Disney Resort hotel guests get the first opportunity to secure select dining experiences during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
Their booking window opens September 3, giving eligible resort guests an early chance to make reservations before everyone else.
Then comes September 9.
That’s when booking opens to all other guests, bringing four Magic Kingdom dining locations and a Christmas fireworks dessert experience into play.
That means partygoers have five different opportunities to add another layer to their Christmas night.
Five Experiences Join the Christmas Party
Be Our Guest Restaurant is one of the choices. Guests can dine inside Beast’s castle and then walk back into Magic Kingdom to continue their evening of Christmas entertainment.
Cinderella’s Royal Table offers an equally distinctive setting. Eating inside Cinderella Castle is already a memorable Magic Kingdom experience, but doing it during a Christmas party adds the park’s holiday atmosphere to the night.
Guests can also reserve The Plaza Restaurant. Its location on Main Street, U.S.A., keeps visitors close to an area that becomes a major part of the Christmas celebration.
Over in Adventureland, The Beak and Barrel provides another option for guests who want to work a reservation into their party plans.
The fifth experience is Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks Dessert Party. This separately priced offering combines an assortment of desserts with reserved viewing for Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks.
With the fireworks serving as one of the night’s biggest events, this could become a particularly popular reservation.
Why Dining During the Party Feels Different
None of these Magic Kingdom dining locations suddenly becomes exclusive to Christmas. The real perk comes from combining them with Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
A dinner inside Cinderella Castle feels a little different when you walk outside afterward and find Magic Kingdom covered in Christmas decorations. The same goes for leaving Be Our Guest Restaurant and heading straight into an evening filled with holiday music, characters, fireworks, and a Christmas parade.
The restaurants may be familiar, but the setting isn’t.
That’s what makes these five reservations noteworthy. Guests can experience Magic Kingdom’s offerings as part of a limited-time Christmas event.
For families who already planned to attend the party, a carefully timed reservation could become another major part of the evening.
Christmas Treats Are Part of the Fun
Dining reservations aren’t the only way guests can add food to their Christmas party experience.
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party has traditionally offered complimentary cookies and seasonal beverages at locations around Magic Kingdom. Recent parties have featured drinks such as hot chocolate, apple cider, and eggnog.
One of my personal favorites from last year’s offerings was the buttercream-frosted gingerbread cookie.
Disney has also given guests a complimentary souvenir during previous parties, often including a Christmas ornament.
Those extras join the special entertainment, characters, decorations, and other seasonal touches that separate the party from a regular night at Magic Kingdom.
Get Ready for September 9
Guests staying at eligible Disney Resort hotels get the first shot at these reservations beginning September 3. That six-day advantage could matter for anyone hoping to secure a particular restaurant, party date, or fireworks dessert experience.
Everyone else should remember September 9.
Guests can make reservations through the My Disney Experience app or by calling Disney dining. Those with a specific experience in mind may want to act quickly once their booking window arrives.
