Disney World’s New Villains Land Could Force Major Overhaul of Hollywood Studios Show
Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After hasn’t been around very long, but Walt Disney World’s massive plans for its villains could eventually leave the Hollywood Studios show in an interesting position.
The stage production opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2025, bringing several classic Disney villains together inside Sunset Showcase. For now, it serves as Walt Disney World’s only year-round experience dedicated entirely to the villains.
That distinction won’t last forever.
Villains Land is coming to Magic Kingdom, and Disney’s latest announcements suggest the company is thinking much bigger than occasional character appearances. The land will feature major attractions, elaborate environments and several recognizable characters.
Once that happens, could Disney decide its villains stage show belongs there, too?
Disney Already Has a Villains Show Ready to Go
Unfairly Ever After revolves around the Magic Mirror, who finds himself dealing with Disney villains who believe they have been treated unfairly.
Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook and Maleficent appear physically onstage to make their cases. Hades, Jafar, the Evil Queen and others appear through the screens surrounding the stage. Guests ultimately vote by applause to decide which villain deserves the final word.
It’s a relatively simple concept, but it allows Disney to bring characters from completely different stories together.
Interestingly, Disney is already carrying one of those ideas into Villains Land.
The Magic Mirror will host the land’s upcoming dark ride. Disney says guests will encounter him beneath the Evil Queen’s palace before entering the Mirror Realm and meeting a wider collection of villains.
Maleficent is also making the jump in a much bigger way.
Disney has confirmed that another Villains Land attraction will be a roller coaster built around Maleficent and the enchanted briars surrounding her fortress.
Those connections raise questions about what Disney could eventually do with Unfairly Ever After.
A Different Villains Show Could Come to Magic Kingdom
Disney has not announced plans to relocate Unfairly Ever After, and there is no guarantee the existing production will ever leave Hollywood Studios.
Still, Villains Land could become a natural home for some type of live villains entertainment.
Disney wouldn’t necessarily need to recreate the current show.
Unfairly Ever After leans heavily into comedy. Captain Hook’s segment includes Tick-Tock the Crocodile chasing him around the stage, while Cruella’s appearance uses an upbeat musical arrangement and several costume changes.
Villains Land appears darker.
That could give Disney an opportunity to create a more ambitious production using the same basic concept. The Magic Mirror could continue connecting characters from different stories while the villains themselves receive more dramatic entrances and performances.
It would also give Magic Kingdom an attraction that isn’t another ride.
Hollywood Studios Could Get an Update Instead
Of course, Disney doesn’t have to move anything.
Unfairly Ever After could remain at Hollywood Studios while receiving changes as Villains Land approaches.
Maleficent could eventually leave the show once her Magic Kingdom attraction opens. The Magic Mirror could also become more closely associated with Villains Land, creating an opportunity for Disney to give the Hollywood Studios production a different host.
Disney could then introduce other villains who aren’t heavily represented at Magic Kingdom.
The show’s reliance on video screens could make those changes easier than rebuilding a traditional attraction.
For the moment, Unfairly Ever After remains a relatively new part of Hollywood Studios.
But Villains Land changes the long-term picture.
Disney is already expanding the Magic Mirror and Maleficent from major pieces of a stage production into headlining attraction concepts.
Once Villains Land finally opens, Disney may have a decision to make.
Unfairly Ever After could stay exactly where it is, transform into something different or eventually inspire a new production inside Magic Kingdom.
Disney hasn’t confirmed any of those possibilities.
Still, with the villains finally receiving a permanent land of their own, it wouldn’t be surprising if their current stage show eventually gets another look.
