Confirmed: Disneyland Haunted Mansion Reopens Tomorrow After 13-Day Closure
Disneyland guests have almost made it through one of the park’s most noticeable August attraction closures.
Haunted Mansion is scheduled to reopen tomorrow, August 21, following nearly two weeks behind closed doors. However, this won’t be a return to business as usual for the famous New Orleans Square attraction.
Instead, Haunted Mansion Holiday officially takes over tomorrow.
Disneyland closed Haunted Mansion beginning August 8, giving crews just 13 days to transform the classic attraction into its annual The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) layover. Disney had previously confirmed August 21 as the reopening date.
Now, one day before opening, there is another promising sign that everything is ready to go.
Haunted Mansion Holiday Is Almost Ready
On August 20, Matt (@DisneyScoopGuy) shared a video from Disneyland showing that the scrims around Haunted Mansion Holiday had been removed.

For guests visiting Disneyland this week, that is a welcome sight.
Haunted Mansion has been completely unavailable since August 8 while Disney installed the seasonal layover. Anyone who visited during that stretch couldn’t experience the classic attraction or its holiday version.
That changes tomorrow.
Disneyland’s official seasonal calendar also lists August 21 as the beginning of Halloween Time, with Haunted Mansion Holiday specifically included among the seasonal experiences returning to the resort.
Jack Skellington Returns August 21
Haunted Mansion Holiday isn’t a small decorating project.
Disney transforms numerous portions of the attraction with characters, props, effects, music, and decorations inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993). Jack Skellington becomes “Sandy Claws,” while Sally and Oogie Boogie are among the characters incorporated into the experience.
The ballroom also traditionally receives one of the layover’s most popular additions: its elaborate gingerbread house. Disney has created different gingerbread designs over the years, giving repeat visitors another reason to return.
That extensive transformation explains why Haunted Mansion had to disappear from Disneyland’s attraction lineup for nearly two weeks.
Tomorrow Starts a Long Run for the Holiday Mansion
Guests should also remember that tomorrow isn’t simply the end of a refurbishment.
It marks the beginning of a much longer period without Disneyland’s traditional Haunted Mansion.
Disney plans to keep Haunted Mansion Holiday operating through the remainder of 2026 and into early 2027.
That means August 7 was the final opportunity to ride the regular version in 2026. Beginning tomorrow, Jack Skellington will be the mansion’s most prominent seasonal resident for months.
The timing makes the reopening especially exciting for anyone visiting Disneyland on August 21. Not only will Haunted Mansion return, but those guests will be among the first of the season to see Disney’s completed 2026 transformation.
After 13 days of waiting, the doors are almost ready to reopen.
