Disney World Moves Up Fantasmic! Beginning This Month, Cutting Into Park Time
Thirty minutes can disappear surprisingly fast at Disney World.
That’s especially true at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where guests may spend those minutes waiting for one more attraction, grabbing food, or racing across the park before the nighttime entertainment begins.
Starting later this month, guests planning to end their evening with Fantasmic! will have slightly less time to do all of that.
Disney is moving the nighttime spectacular to an earlier start time beginning August 23, 2026.

Disney Moves Fantasmic! Earlier
Fantasmic! currently begins at 9:00 p.m., with a second performance at 10:30 p.m. on select nights.
Beginning August 23, the first show moves forward by 30 minutes to 8:30 p.m. On nights when two performances are scheduled, the second will begin at 10:00 p.m.
Current schedules have two performances planned on select Fridays, Sundays, and Tuesdays after the change takes effect.
Moving Fantasmic! earlier isn’t particularly unusual as daylight gradually decreases. The outdoor production relies on darkness to create the full effect of its projections, pyrotechnics, lighting, and other elements.
For Disney, it’s a relatively straightforward operational adjustment.
For guests, it changes the math at the end of a Hollywood Studios day.
Those 30 Minutes Matter
Anyone who has visited Disney World knows that a show’s listed start time isn’t necessarily when you should begin heading toward it.
Disney says guests can enter the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater up to 90 minutes before Fantasmic! begins and recommends arriving early to secure a seat.
Guests hoping for a comfortable arrival may want to reach the theater 30 to 60 minutes ahead of the performance.
Under the current schedule, someone targeting a 30-minute cushion can arrive around 8:30 p.m. Starting August 23, that becomes 8:00 p.m.
That essentially removes 30 minutes from the usable portion of the evening for anyone following the same Fantasmic! strategy.
It could mean skipping one more attraction, eating dinner earlier, or leaving another area of Hollywood Studios sooner than originally planned.
And because Fantasmic! draws large crowds, waiting until the last possible moment isn’t necessarily the best solution.

There Is Another Way to Approach Fantasmic!
The good news is that some guests will have a second option.
On select nights, Disney will present Fantasmic! again at 10:00 p.m. Guests willing to stay later could use the first performance window to continue experiencing Hollywood Studios before heading toward the amphitheater for the second show.
That could become particularly appealing for visitors trying to maximize their attraction count.
Fantasmic! lasts approximately 29 minutes and brings Mickey Mouse’s dream to life through water effects, projections, performers, Disney characters, music, and pyrotechnics.
It’s been a major part of the Hollywood Studios nighttime lineup for decades, so plenty of guests build their evenings around seeing it.
Starting August 23, they’ll simply need to build those evenings a little differently.
The new 8:30 p.m. start doesn’t take anything away from the actual production. But for guests who want to squeeze every possible minute out of Hollywood Studios before finding their seats, the clock will start ticking a little sooner.
