A trip around EPCOT’s World Showcase comes with a few more construction walls than usual right now, particularly for guests making their way through the Germany Pavilion.
Walt Disney World continues to tackle projects across the resort, ranging from major attraction work to smaller refurbishments. World Showcase has seen its share of that activity, and Germany has become one of the more noticeable areas affected by ongoing work.
Several parts of the pavilion currently sit behind walls or have limited access. Still, Disney isn’t simply waiting for the construction to finish before making other changes.
A new guest option has opened right in the middle of the work, and its arrival comes at an interesting time. EPCOT is only weeks away from the start of one of its biggest events of the year.
Construction Has Taken Over Parts of Germany
Anyone familiar with the Germany Pavilion may notice several differences during a visit right now.
A large portion of the Volkskunst shop has closed while work continues. Disney has also placed construction walls around the pavilion’s public restrooms.
The work extends beyond those areas. Refurbishment has also been underway around the exterior of the pavilion, including portions of the roof.
Despite all of those projects, Germany remains open to guests. Visitors can still walk through the pavilion, browse available shops, find food, and enjoy the atmosphere. Biergarten Restaurant also continues serving its German-inspired buffet alongside live entertainment.
The biggest challenge may simply be navigating around the work. Construction walls and unavailable entrances can make parts of the pavilion less straightforward than they normally would be.
That situation makes Disney’s latest addition especially convenient.
Guests Have Another Place to Stop
Disney has opened a new walk-up bar near Sommerfest at the entrance to Biergarten Restaurant.
The setup gives guests another easy option for picking up alcoholic beverages without dramatically changing the existing Sommerfest operation.
Guests place their beverage orders at the Sommerfest register before heading to the nearby bar to pick them up. Food orders work a little differently. Anyone purchasing food will continue picking it up at the regular Sommerfest window.
The drink selection includes Schöfferhofer Grapefruit Hefeweizen, Bitburger Premium Pilsner, and Warsteiner Dunkel. Guests can also get water on site.
While this isn’t a major new attraction or elaborate experience, its location could make it particularly useful while construction continues elsewhere in Germany.
Construction Makes Another Bar Harder to Reach
Weinkeller remains open nearby, but reaching it isn’t as obvious as it normally would be.
Construction has closed its exterior entrance due to the refurbishment work around the pavilion. Guests currently have to go through Stein Haus to access Weinkeller instead.
Visitors who know Germany well may have no trouble finding their way inside. For someone casually passing through World Showcase, however, the alternate entrance could be easy to miss.
The Sommerfest bar offers guests a more visible option to grab a beer before moving along.
And soon, plenty more visitors could be looking for exactly that kind of convenience.
Food & Wine Is Almost Here
The 2026 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival begins August 27 and continues through November 21.
For nearly three months, guests can make their way around EPCOT while sampling small plates, desserts, and specialty beverages inspired by cuisines from around the world. Festival marketplaces offer beer, wine, cocktails, and other options alongside the food selections.
Guests don’t need a separate event ticket for Food & Wine. The festival is included with regular EPCOT admission and, when required, a valid park reservation, although guests pay separately for food and drinks.
There is more to the festival than eating and drinking. EPCOT also offers entertainment, merchandise, scavenger hunts, and other limited-time experiences. The Eat to the Beat Concert Series brings live performances to America Gardens Theatre as another major part of the event.
World Showcase naturally receives plenty of attention during the festival as guests move between its pavilions and marketplaces.
That could make Germany’s latest addition even more useful once August 27 arrives.
Germany Keeps Operating Through the Work
Germany may look different with construction walls, closed sections, and altered entrances, but most of the pavilion remains available.
Now guests also have another straightforward place to stop for a beverage.
The new Sommerfest bar is a relatively small addition compared to the larger construction projects happening around Walt Disney World. Still, smaller operational changes can make navigating EPCOT easier, especially when nearby refurbishment work affects other options.
With Food & Wine just around the corner, the timing couldn’t be much better.
Guests visiting Germany should expect to encounter construction for now. But amid all those walls, Disney has also given them a new option to check out.
