The rolling planters that blocked half of the Lotus Blossom Café’s dining area in the China World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT for over a month came down overnight. What they were hiding is now on full display for guests visiting the Central Florida Disney park this weekend.
A Phased Project Reaches Its Conclusion
On Sunday, WDWNT reported that Walt Disney World Resort had removed the construction barriers from the right-side dining area of the Lotus Blossom Café, completing a summer-long refurbishment that overhauled both halves of the Quick-Service dining location in stages. The left side was addressed earlier in the summer; the right side closed in early July and has now reopened just over a month later.
The most striking removal visible in the newly revealed space is the old flooring. The small, dark brown tiles that previously covered the right dining area are gone, replaced by the same larger, bright beige tiles installed on the left side when it reopened. The consistent tile treatment across both dining areas gives the Lotus Blossom Café a unified look it didn’t have before the summer’s phased work began.
Everything else about the space looks familiar. The cross-shaped orange light fixtures remain overhead. The rectangular tables and silver metal chairs are back in what appears to be their original arrangement. Decorative elements, including the calligraphy panels, mosaic tiles, and teal ceiling trim, may have been cleaned or refreshed during the refurbishment, but no design changes are apparent.
How the Area Stayed Open
Lotus Blossom Café remained operational throughout both refurbishment closures, with Walt Disney World Resort setting up additional picnic tables and benches along the China Pavilion walkways to compensate for the reduced seating capacity during construction. However, those extra seating arrangements were cleared out when the right-side dining area reopened.
