Disney Overhauls Magic Kingdom’s Halloween Party With 7 Major Changes, Cutting Fan Favorite
Disney’s Halloween season is back, and the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party of 2026 begins tonight at Magic Kingdom. Returning guests will still find many of the event’s signature offerings, but Disney has also introduced several updates that noticeably change the experience. New entertainment, fresh food, collectible merchandise, and a few replaced favorites mean there’s plenty to look for once the gates open.
Whether you’re attending for the first time or making your annual Halloween trip, here are seven changes worth knowing before heading to the party.
What Guests Can Expect During the Party
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party takes place on select nights through October 31 and requires a separate ticket from regular park admission. Guests can enter Magic Kingdom beginning at 4 p.m., giving them a few extra hours in the park before the event officially starts at 7 p.m. and continues until midnight.
The party is known for offering exclusive entertainment, candy trails, themed food, limited-edition merchandise, character meet-and-greets, and entertainment unavailable during normal operating hours. Returning favorites like Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade and Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular remain part of this year’s lineup, but several new additions are joining them.
Cast Members Debut Updated Party Costumes
Not every change this year is designed for guests, but one has still become a popular topic of conversation.
Multiple cast members have shared online that Disney has introduced new costumes for employees working the Halloween party. Several have expressed disappointment over retiring the previous outfits, which many considered one of the most enjoyable perks of working the event.
The redesigned costumes appear to be lighter and more practical for Florida’s late-summer temperatures. While that should make long evenings more comfortable for cast members, many feel the older designs had become closely associated with the party itself.
Adventureland Adds a New Pirate Experience
Adventureland is getting a fresh entertainment offering with the arrival of Captain Jack’s Buccaneer Bash.
The new show features Captain Jack Sparrow leading guests through pirate-themed antics with plenty of comedy and audience interaction. It also appears to build on the entertainment that guests have enjoyed in recent years.
Rusty Cutlass, the pirate band that previously performed throughout Adventureland during the party, seems to have become part of this expanded experience. While Disney hasn’t officially explained how the transition works, guests can expect the area to remain full of pirate energy throughout the night.
Exclusive Merchandise Gets Two New Collectibles
Party-exclusive popcorn buckets have become must-have souvenirs for many guests, and Disney is adding two new designs this year.
The Hatbox Ghost Bucket and the Headless Horseman Bucket will both be available during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Disney has limited purchases to two buckets per person, per transaction, and quantities will be available only while supplies last each evening.
Because these collectibles often sell quickly, guests hoping to take one home may want to shop earlier rather than waiting until the end of the night.
Disney Gives a Dance Party a New Theme
Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café is also seeing a noticeable change.
Disney Junior Jam has been replaced by Destination DescenDANCE Party, giving the space a new soundtrack and atmosphere inspired by the Descendants films. Guests can join the dance party while enjoying music and choreography based on the franchise.
Although it’s new for this year’s event, it isn’t brand new to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Disney previously offered Destination DescenDANCE before replacing it with Disney Junior Jam, making this year’s switch something of a return.
Villains Are Taking on a Bigger Role
Disney also appears ready to expand one of its newer Halloween offerings.
Over the past two years, Fairytale Hall became a villain-themed treat trail featuring Maleficent and the Evil Queen. The interactive walkthrough quickly became a favorite among guests seeking something beyond traditional trick-or-treat stops.
This year, Disney has teased that even more familiar villains will appear along the treat trails. While the company hasn’t revealed exactly who guests will encounter, the announcement suggests the villain experience will extend beyond what visitors have seen in recent years.
Fresh Food and a New Tomorrowland Party
Food is another area receiving plenty of attention in 2026. Disney has introduced several new menu items, including the Hades Cake Pop, Phantom Pecan-Caramel Cheesecake, Headless Horseman Treat, Queen of Hearts Tart, and Fang-tastic Garlic Butter Burger.
Meanwhile, Tomorrowland is saying goodbye to Zom-Beatz Bash. In its place comes Stitch’s Masquerade Mashup at Rockettower Plaza Stage, where Stitch, Lilo, and Angel host a Halloween-themed dance party. The update also brings more classic Disney characters into the entertainment lineup after Disney Junior Jam made way for the Descendants-inspired experience.
A New Chapter for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
This year’s event blends returning traditions with several noticeable updates across Magic Kingdom. Some familiar offerings have been refreshed, others have been replaced, and Disney has added enough new experiences to give returning guests something different to explore.
