An Extreme Heat Advisory is in effect for Walt Disney World Resort and the surrounding Central Florida area on Wednesday. Guests spending the day at any of the theme parks need to take the conditions seriously.
The Warning in Effect Right Now at Disney World
The Melbourne, Florida, office of the National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Advisory covering Orange, Lake, Seminole, Volusia, and northern Brevard counties from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on July 29. Every Walt Disney World Resort destination falls within the affected area — Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Disney Springs, Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, and all onsite hotels. Universal Orlando Resort’s theme parks, Volcano Bay, and hotel properties are also included in the advisory.
The actual temperature is expected to reach the low-to-mid 90s, but the heat index — the “feels like” number that accounts for humidity — is forecast to hit 110 degrees Fahrenheit. That level of heat poses a risk of heat stroke and other serious heat-related conditions for anyone spending extended time outdoors.

Wednesday’s alert marks the third time this week alone that the National Weather Service has issued a high-temperature warning covering the Walt Disney World Resort area — following multiple similar advisories earlier in the summer. Relief is coming, but it arrives with a catch: cooler temperatures are expected to begin Thursday, accompanied by rain, showers, and the potential for a few strong storms through the end of the week.
What Guests Should Do Right Now
Anyone at Walt Disney World Resort or spending time outdoors in Central Florida today should stay consistently hydrated throughout the day, apply and reapply sun protection, and wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing. Reducing time in direct sunlight wherever possible — by ducking into air-conditioned attractions, shops, and restaurants — is strongly recommended during peak afternoon hours.
Guests should check on older or at-risk companions and under no circumstances leave children or pets in parked vehicles. Anyone experiencing symptoms of heat stroke or heat exhaustion at Walt Disney World Resort should head to the nearest First Aid location immediately.
