Family Fails To Win Settlement From Disney World After Violent Fight at Magic Kingdom
A lawsuit stemming from one of the most widely shared viral brawl videos in Disney Park history has come to a close — and a Florida judge has sided firmly with Walt Disney World Resort.
The Brawl That Started It All

On July 20, 2022, the plaintiffs – the Aikals family – were waiting in line for Mickey’s Philharmagic in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park when another family reportedly “pushed or shoved” a member of their group. The Aikals notified a Disney cast member and pointed out the other family. The cast member separated the two parties by routing one group through an alternate entrance and assured the Aikals she would “take care of it.”
After the showing of Mickey’s Philharmagic, the Aikals alleged that the other family “appeared out of nowhere” and “quickly pounced” on them. The violent physical altercation that followed was captured on video and spread rapidly across the internet. An X (formerly Twitter) user, @sweetisme3, preserved the original Facebook post about the brawl at the time, writing:
This video of a Magic Kingdom fight posted on Facebook is crazy.
But I’m with the person who filmed this. Where is security??

Disney cast members radioed security and called 911, eventually forming a physical barrier around the altercation to shield other Magic Kingdom Park guests from the violence. Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived within minutes and escorted both families to a backstage security office.

One person involved in the brawl required hospital treatment for a facial laceration. Several guests also claimed that designer items and mobile phones were damaged during the fight. The incident attracted additional attention when police records revealed that one of those involved was Elijah Richardson, an actor who had appeared in three episodes of the 2021 Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and the Disney+ film Hollywood Stargirl (2022). One family member was arrested following the incident.
Both families were banned from Walt Disney World Resort and were unable to complete their vacations.
The Lawsuit and the Ruling
The Aikals subsequently sued Walt Disney World Resort for negligent security, arguing that Disney cast members could have prevented the attack. Disney pushed back, arguing it had “no duty” to protect guests from a sudden, unforeseeable third-party criminal act.

In May 2026, Walt Disney World Resort filed for a Summary Judgement — a request to have the case dismissed before it ever reached trial. On July 13, 2026, Circuit Court Judge Michael Deen granted that request, issuing a Summary Judgement in favor of Walt Disney World Resort on all claims. The case was dismissed in its entirety, and Disney owes no settlement to the plaintiffs. It will not go before a trial jury.
