Tom Holland May Change the Face of Hollywood This July
Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures may be heading toward one of the biggest theatrical launches of 2026, with early projections pointing to a major debut for Tom Holland’s return as Spider-Man.

More than three weeks before its theatrical release, Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026) is already shaping up to be the year’s biggest opening. According to Deadline, current tracking estimates place the film’s domestic opening weekend between $180 million and $190 million, putting it ahead of every other release currently scheduled for 2026.
If the forecasts remain on target, the latest Spider-Man installment would once again demonstrate the franchise’s remarkable box office consistency and give Marvel Studios one of its strongest theatrical performances in recent years.
Although the Marvel Cinematic Universe has delivered a range of box office results since the conclusion of the Infinity Saga, Spider-Man has continued to stand apart. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) became one of the defining theatrical releases of its era, earning more than $1.9 billion worldwide and securing its place among the highest-grossing films ever released.
Brand New Day now appears ready to build on that success. Audience anticipation remains high following No Way Home‘s conclusion, where Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) cast a spell that erased Peter Parker’s identity from the memories of everyone who knew him, leaving the hero to begin again completely alone.

The next chapter is expected to shift the focus back to a more street-level version of the character, with Peter once again protecting New York City while confronting a new adversary.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021) director Destin Daniel Cretton takes the helm for Holland’s fourth solo outing as Peter Parker.
Marvel has positioned Spider-Man: Brand New Day as a fresh starting point for the character after the events of No Way Home. Holland returns alongside Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, while Jon Bernthal joins the film as Frank Castle/The Punisher. The cast also includes Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, Michael Mando, Sadie Sink, Tramell Tillman, and several familiar faces from across the Marvel universe.
The film is also expected to play a key role in Marvel Studios’ ongoing roadmap as the franchise moves toward Avengers: Doomsday (2026), currently scheduled for release later this year.

Early tracking is far from a guarantee of a film’s eventual performance, but it often provides an indication of audience interest before release. Should Spider-Man: Brand New Day open within its projected $180 million to $190 million range domestically, it would join the ranks of the biggest superhero debuts in box office history.
Those projections could still change as marketing ramps up and audiences respond to trailers and promotional material. For now, however, the numbers suggest that Spider-Man’s return is shaping up to be one of the biggest theatrical releases of the summer. Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives exclusively in theaters in multiple formats on July 31, 2026.
