Disney World Quietly Breaks Ground on Adventureland Overhaul at Magic Kingdom

Guests arriving at Magic Kingdom Park on Monday found a new addition to the Adventureland landscape. Here’s what we know about the latest refurbishment project at Walt Disney World Resort.

On Monday, WDWNT reported that construction scrim had appeared overnight alongside the Swiss Family Treehouse in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom Park. The side of the fabric facing guests walking through Adventureland is printed with trees — a deliberate design choice that allows the barrier to blend almost seamlessly into the thick surrounding greenery. Only the opposite side, visible to guests making their way through the Swiss Family Treehouse walkthrough, gives itself away with a solid green finish.

The scrim appears to be hung from scaffolding, though what exactly is being worked on in the jungle space behind it hasn’t been confirmed. Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t offered any information about the project, which is standard practice for maintenance and refurbishment work that doesn’t require attraction closures or major guest rerouting.

The Swiss Family Treehouse itself is unaffected. The attraction remains fully open, with all six floors accessible and the 360-degree views of Magic Kingdom Park from the upper levels intact. No closures are listed for the Adventureland walkthrough on the official Walt Disney World Resort website, and the scaffolding and scrim aren’t blocking any of the experience’s interactive or decorative elements.

The new construction activity comes just over a year after the Swiss Family Treehouse emerged from its own significant refurbishment. The opening-day Magic Kingdom Park attraction — inspired by the 1960 film Swiss Family Robinson — closed for maintenance in late 2024 before reopening in early 2025 with its long-broken waterwheel effect finally restored.
