Disney World Guests Face Weeks Without AC as Orlando Hits 100+ Degrees
If you’ve been keeping tabs on Disney’s Wilderness Lodge this week, there’s a new update you may want to know before your next Walt Disney World vacation.

The Deluxe Resort has now spent nearly a full week dealing with a major air conditioning outage, and while Disney has brought in temporary cooling equipment to help guests cope with the Florida heat, some industry observers believe the situation could last much longer than many people initially expected.
That’s raising new concerns among Disney fans, especially given the timing.
The outage arrived during one of the hottest stretches of the summer so far, with Central Florida seeing heat advisories, triple-digit heat index values, and the kind of weather that sends most Disney guests running indoors after a long day in the parks.
For a Value Resort, this would be a major story.
For one of Walt Disney World’s signature Deluxe Resorts, it’s becoming an even bigger talking point.
Why Some Believe This Won’t Be a Quick Fix

When news of the outage first surfaced on June 18, many guests assumed Disney would have the issue resolved within a day or two.
That no longer appears to be a realistic expectation.
Ryan Barr, who posts on X as @Imagineer6, recently weighed in on the situation and suggested the problem may be much larger than a routine repair.
“This isn’t going to be a few days or even weeks,” Barr wrote.
“To replace an already existing chiller plant all at once costs millions and will probably be budgeted out over a timeline. They’re likely going to be using rentals for at least a month.”

Still, the idea that temporary cooling could remain in place for weeks has quickly caught the attention of Disney fans planning upcoming stays at the resort.
What Guests Are Experiencing at the Resort
Disney has taken steps to make conditions more comfortable.
According to reporting from BlogMickey, some of those areas are utilizing evaporative coolers, while others feature temporary spot air conditioning units connected through flexible duct systems.
Fans have also been added to some cast member work areas.
The result is a noticeable difference in certain parts of the resort.
Guests standing near the equipment report cooler temperatures and improved airflow.
The challenge is that Wilderness Lodge is a massive property with soaring ceilings, expansive walkways, and large open gathering spaces.
Portable equipment can help take the edge off, but it does not recreate the fully air-conditioned experience guests expect when booking a Deluxe Disney resort.
That distinction becomes especially important during the summer months.
Florida’s Heat Isn’t Doing Disney Any Favors
Had this happened in the fall or winter, guests might have viewed the situation differently.
Instead, the outage has coincided with a significant Central Florida heat wave.
During the first several days of the outage, portions of the Orlando area experienced heat index values between 105 and 111 degrees. Even as conditions have slightly improved, daily temperatures remain firmly in summer territory.
For many Disney guests, resort hotels are more than just a place to sleep.
They’re a place to recharge.
Families often spend hours navigating attractions, standing in queues, and walking miles through the parks before returning to their resort for a break.
When one of Disney’s most popular hotels can’t provide its normal cooling experience, guests notice.
And increasingly, they’re talking about it online.
What This Means for Your Disney World Plans
If you’re scheduled to stay at Wilderness Lodge in the near future, now is probably a good time to check in with Disney before your arrival date.
The resort remains open, and Disney has not announced any closures.
Restaurants including Whispering Canyon Cafe and Artist Point are once again accepting reservations, and day-to-day operations continue.
However, Disney has not shared a timeline for restoring the main cooling system.
Several guests have also reported being offered relocation options to other Disney hotels, although the company has not publicly outlined a formal policy regarding those accommodations.
The best approach for travelers is simple: call ahead.
Getting the latest information directly from Disney could help avoid surprises when you arrive.
Why This Matters Beyond Wilderness Lodge
This story has become more than just an isolated hotel maintenance issue.
For Disney fans, it raises questions about guest expectations, resort operations, and what happens when a major infrastructure problem affects one of Walt Disney World’s most recognizable properties.
Wilderness Lodge consistently ranks among the most beloved hotels on Disney property. Many guests choose it specifically because of its atmosphere, amenities, and reputation for offering a premium experience.
That’s why so many people are paying attention.
A prolonged air conditioning outage isn’t something guests expect at a Deluxe Resort, especially during a Florida summer.
For now, Disney continues operating with temporary cooling solutions while guests wait for answers about a permanent fix.
If you’re heading to Walt Disney World soon and Wilderness Lodge is part of your plans, this is definitely a story worth keeping an eye on.
