Visitors heading to Universal Orlando Resort this summer will soon notice a familiar dining location preparing for its final chapter. While new rides and attractions often dominate conversations about the resort, restaurants play an equally important role in shaping the guest experience. Now, one longtime CityWalk staple is nearing the end of its run after serving guests for more than a decade.
The closure comes as Universal continues evolving its entertainment offerings across the destination. As one restaurant prepares to leave, another is already waiting in the wings.
CityWalk Has Become a Destination of Its Own
Over the years, Universal CityWalk has grown into far more than an entrance corridor leading to the theme parks. Many visitors make a point of spending time there even when they are not planning a full park day.
The district offers shopping, entertainment, specialty experiences, and plenty of places to eat. Guests can browse stores filled with Universal merchandise, take part in escape room adventures, or simply spend an evening exploring the area.
Food remains one of CityWalk’s biggest draws. The lineup includes everything from quick-service counters to full-service restaurants, giving visitors a wide range of options regardless of their schedule.
That variety has become even more important as Universal Orlando Resort continues attracting large crowds throughout the year.

What’s Closing This Summer?
One of CityWalk’s longtime quick-service locations is preparing to shut down permanently.
Universal has confirmed that Hot Dog Hall of Fame will close in July 2026. The restaurant first opened in 2014 and built its reputation around regional hot dog creations inspired by famous cities and ballparks across the country.
For many guests, it became a reliable stop for a quick meal before entering the parks or after a long day. Its straightforward menu and convenient location helped it develop a loyal customer base over the years.
Although it was never one of CityWalk’s largest dining venues, it remained a recognizable fixture for more than 12 years. Now Universal is ready to move the location in a different direction.

The Closure Arrives During a Busy Season
The timing of the closure is particularly noteworthy because it comes during one of Universal Orlando Resort’s busiest times of the year.
Summer brings heavy crowds to the resort, and quick-service dining locations often help guests make the most of their time. Visitors looking for a quick lunch or dinner often rely on convenient options that let them get back to their vacation plans quickly.
With Hot Dog Hall of Fame leaving the lineup, CityWalk will temporarily lose one of those grab-and-go locations.
Guests will still have plenty of places to eat throughout the district. However, removing one quick-service restaurant could lead to slightly greater demand at nearby locations during peak dining periods.
Fortunately, Universal does not appear interested in leaving the space empty for long.

A New Restaurant Is Ready to Move In
Universal has already revealed what will replace the Hot Dog Hall of Fame.
The location will become Fat One’s Hot Dogs & Italian Ice, a restaurant concept founded by *NSYNC member Joey Fatone. The brand already operates elsewhere and combines specialty hot dogs with Italian ice offerings.
Instead of completely abandoning the hot dog concept, Universal appears to be refreshing it with a new identity and a recognizable celebrity connection.
The addition also reflects a broader pattern at CityWalk. Universal regularly updates dining, retail, and entertainment offerings to keep the district fresh and appealing for returning visitors.

Looking Ahead
As Hot Dog Hall of Fame prepares to close, Universal Orlando Resort is once again demonstrating how quickly the resort continues to evolve. The restaurant served CityWalk guests for more than a decade and became a familiar stop for countless visitors.
Its departure will mark the end of one chapter, but Universal already has plans for what comes next. Once Fat One’s Hot Dogs & Italian Ice takes over the space, CityWalk will begin another new era while continuing to offer guests plenty of reasons to stay, dine, and explore beyond the theme parks.
